The right candidate will design and develop our next generation Ethernet switching platforms for AWS datacenters. Strong experience in modular chassis based enterprise/carrier products is required.The ideal candidate is a strong hardware board designer with Ethernet networking experience in terabit switch fabrics, 10/40/100 gigabit interfaces, embedded CPU subsystems, and network processors. Prior experience defining and designing modular chassis based products is required. Must have experience working with Asian ODM and JDM partners, both in development and manufacturing.You will have prior experience in high speed digital design as a design lead in the networking field, including architectural definition, specification, key component selection, detailed design, collaboration with PCB designers, testing, and transition to manufacturing. Skills in simulation, timing analysis, thermal analysis, and EMC are expected.AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure, supporting data centers and all related servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual access to cloud services. You’ll experience an inclusive culture that empowers you to own ideas to completion.ResponsibilitiesDevelop functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.Lead hardware board and systems development from concept to mass production, with emphasis on Ethernet switching fabrics and related interfaces.Define modular chassis functions and collaborate with ODM/JDM partners for development and manufacturing.Perform high-speed digital design activities, including architectural definition, component selection, detailed design, testing, and transition to manufacturing.Apply simulation, timing analysis, thermal analysis, and EMC analysis in design processes.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, HW, SI, diagnostic, manufacturing) and external vendors and developers.Minimum QualificationsBSEE with 10+ years in hardware board and systems development, including bringing products from concept to mass production; 5+ years of experience with Ethernet switching fabrics, Ethernet PHY and SerDes interfaces, embedded CPU subsystems, DDR2/DDR3/DDR4 memory design, network processors, I2C, USB.Experience with high-speed PCB design and 5+ years of experience in CPLD/FPGA design using VHDL or Verilog.Experience troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and specialized test equipment (PCI analyzers, in-circuit-emulators).Experience interfacing with cross-functional teams and external vendors/developers.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.Experience managing technical projects.Experience defining and implementing modular chassis functions such as system redundancy, hot-swap, power distribution, environmental control, and system management.CPLD/FPGA experience in advanced hardware control/monitoring/logging.Experience specifying mechanical enclosures; experience in analog design, signal integrity analysis, DC-DC switcher design, EDVT, and MDVT is an asset.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Los Angeles County applicants: Job duties include working safely, communicating effectively, and following all laws and company policies.
