Fiber Optic Design Engineer - 224G PAM4 Optical Modules3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicantsDirect message the job poster from StarTech Trieste s.r.lFiber Optic Design Engineer - 224G PAM4 Optical ModulesPosition OverviewThis role focuses on precision optical design and assembly, including lens positioning, optical isolators, and fiber attachment, for high-speed transceiver and optical sub-assembly (OSA) applications.Key ResponsibilitiesDesigning and optimizing free-space and fiber-coupled optical paths for 224G PAM4 optical modulesPerforming lens selection, positioning, alignment, and tolerance analysis for high-speed optical assembliesDesigning and integrating optical isolators, including placement, orientation, and insertion-loss optimizationDeveloping robust fiber attachment solutions, including active and passive alignment methodsSupporting optical sub-assembly (OSA) development from concept through prototype and low-volume productionPerforming optical simulations and tolerance stack-ups to ensure yield and performance marginCollaborating with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure system-level performanceSupporting optical bring-up, characterization, and debug (IL, RL, PER, extinction ratio, eye performance)Interfacing with vendors on lenses, isolators, fibers, ferrules, and optical componentsGenerating and maintaining optical design documentation, drawings, and assembly proceduresRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree (or higher) in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldStrong understanding of fiber-optic communications fundamentals, including PAM4 modulationExperience with optical alignment and coupling techniques (free-space and fiber-based)Hands-on experience with lens positioning and optical tolerancingFamiliarity with optical isolator design and integrationExperience designing or supporting fiber attach processes (active or passive alignment)Ability to work with tight mechanical and optical tolerances at high data ratesPreferred QualificationsExperience with 112G/224G PAM4 optical modules (QSFP-DD, OSFP, OSFP-XD, or similar)Experience with EML and silicon photonics-based transmittersFamiliarity with optical simulation tools (e.g., Zemax, Code V, LightTools, or equivalent)Experience supporting prototype builds and low-volume productionKnowledge of optical testing and characterization methodsWhat We OfferAGS in line with background and benchmarkBonusCanteenHow to ApplySend your CV and, if available, a cover letter to:Subject: Application – Fiber Optic Design EngineerEqual Opportunity & Privacy NoticeStarTech Trieste is an equal opportunity employer.Personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable privacy regulations and GDPR.Seniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionEngineering and Information TechnologyIndustriesManufacturing#J-18808-Ljbffr
