ContourGlobal boasts 20 years of collaboration with communities, institutions, and customers that benefit from its electricity supply through long-term contracts or innovative PPAs, coupled with energy management solutions.We are looking for a Senior Renewables Energy Project Engineer in Milan / Hybrid ResponsibilitiesProject Development and Execution: Protection system control and engineering activities for renewable energy plants; development of SCADA and protection design throughout the project lifecycle (feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, construction, commissioning). Purchase order specifications to activate external engineering support; management and supervision of contractors' design and engineering activities. Control of electrical technical specifications and network architecture when required; support to Procurement during bidding phases. Assist in review of electrical drawings and technical specifications in compliance with regulations; monitor technical documents from EPC contractors to ensure design compliance with EGP specifications and best practices.Technical Due Diligence and Investment Support: Lead specialist team conducting technical reviews of SOLAR and BESS projects for greenfield and M&A opportunities; interface with Business Development, Legal, Procurement, O&M, etc. up to Final Investment Decision (FID). Support the definition of business models and commercial offers (including energy storage applications); assist in economic and financial evaluations, cost structuring, risk assessments, and sensitivity analyses. Evaluate compliance with grid codes and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NFPA 855, IEEE 1547, IEC, RED III, Decree 128 / 2016).Application and Innovation of Storage TechnologiesApply knowledge of PV and BESS plant equipment (PV modules, trackers, conversion units, string inverters, batteries) and control systems to optimize project performance. Explore new technical solutions for PV and BESS systems with relevant control systems; analyze and define use cases such as frequency regulation, peak shaving, energy shifting, backup power, and grid support. Support innovation initiatives related to hybrid plant operation and digital asset management.Qualifications and SkillsEducation: Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical or electronic preferred). Experience: 10+ years in energy sector projects; 6+ years in the design and implementation of SOLAR or BESS as Project Engineer. Skills: Fluent in English (written and spoken); excellent communication, team leadership, decision-making, innovation, results focus; ability to give and receive feedback. Technical competencies: knowledge of SOLAR and BESS technologies, EMS/BMS architecture, Power Plant Control architecture, bidirectional inverters, thermal systems, and grid compliance. Familiarity with applicable standards and regulations (NFPA, IEC, IEEE); Capex and Opex estimation; advanced knowledge of the plant design process across feasibility, basic design, and construction design phases. Knowledge of HV, MV and LV infrastructures and main equipment. Travel requirements: frequent national and international travel; availability for site inspections, technical meetings, and engineering reviews.What Drives Your Application ForwardMaster’s degree in Sustainable Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering, or similar is highly valued. Certifications in EMS, PPC, power electronics, or grid integration are a plus. Demonstrated experience integrating storage systems with renewable assets.
