Senior Payload Integration & Test Engineer, Amazon LEO Job ID: | Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLCAmazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.As a Senior Payload Integration & Test Engineer, you will be responsible for integration and test activities for payload‑related features for the LEO satellite, ground gateway, and customer terminals. You will work closely with colleagues across Amazon LEO’s inter‑disciplinary team to support lab payload testing, troubleshoot issues, and reproduce on‑orbit problems in the lab. This role requires flexibility, responsiveness, and success in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.ResponsibilitiesConceptualize and execute test campaigns focusing on functionality and performance.Engage with systems, hardware, and software development teams to capture requirements, define use cases, and work backward from product strategy.Perform end‑to‑end functional and performance testing, including ground equipment, satellite, customer terminals, and cloud services.Expand test coverage in the lab by integrating with test equipment and collaborating with vendors.Troubleshoot deeply: anticipate failures, collect data, analyze log files, compare models to observed behavior, and determine root cause.Root‑cause MAC‑to‑application layer throughput degradation and packet losses across the system.Support and reproduce on‑orbit functional and performance issues in the lab.Draft and maintain high‑quality documentation (test verification matrix, status tracking, test runs).Enhance testing efficiency by automating test execution and analysis.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.10+ years of satellite and/or cellular lab testing experience.Experience with Linux, basic networking, and RF lab equipment configuration.Experience with test development in Python or similar language.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related discipline.Experience with software‑defined networking implementations and protocol extensions.Experience with test equipment (spectrum analyzers, channel emulators, customer terminal simulators, vector signal analyzers/generators).Proficiency with test development in Python.Experience with database queries (SQL, Grafana) and AWS Cloud Services.Strong cross‑functional coordination skills.Export Control Requirement Due to applicable export control laws, candidates must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylum status.Equal Opportunity Employment Amazon is an equal‑opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Los Angeles County Applicants Los Angeles County applicants: Job duties for this position include: work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff; adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions; communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service; and follow all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies.
