In this role, the Automation Engineer will be responsible to define specifications and monitoring performance of the Material Handling Equipment in our AU Last Mile delivery Network.This role requires an engineer with experience in automation, engineering, planning and analysis of the Material Handling Equipment in Delivery Stations.The successful candidate will partner with Automation Engineering, Field and Design Engineering, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering, Process Engineering, Facilities, and Operations leaders to effectively operate and deploy Material Handling Equipment across Amazon's last mile network.This role involves regular communication with partner teams from Japan, Europe and WW to support parallel development projects.This role will be based in either Sydney or Melbourne. The position requires regular domestic and international travel (approximately 25% of work time).Key job responsibilitiesLead Material Handling Equipment automation projectsUpdate equipment specifications based on various factors; labor, cost, safety, performance, etc. working with Process Engineering and Operations partnersSupport field engineering teams in deploying the specified equipment at sites across AustraliaMonitor performance of the installed equipment in Australia by measuring success criteria for meeting metrics for safety, productivity and qualitySupport lessons learnt program for to understand improvements needed for specifications iterationsWork with Worldwide teams to understand development plans in other regions and opportunities for bringing new ideas to AustraliaSupport development and implementation of Service and Maintenance concepts for AMZL Field teamsAbout the teamOur multicultural Engineering team has members from different nationalitiesIf you are excited about working in a diverse group and contributing to an inclusive culture, this opportunity is for you.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experienceExperience working with Material handling equipment (MHE)Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate levelPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies and storage solutionsExperience working with and managing third party vendorsAcknowledgement of country:In the spirit of reconciliation Amazon acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
