Embedded Systems Security Researcher (Freelance)Rome, Italy | 6-month projectHybrid – Rome basedAt Shakers, we're looking for a freelance Embedded Systems Security Researcher to join an advanced R& D cybersecurity project for an Italian tech company working on embedded and Io T security research.This is a hands-on, research-driven role focused on real devices, real vulnerabilities and Po C development — not compliance or paperwork.What you'll doSecurity research on Embedded and Io T devicesFirmware analysis and vulnerability research on ARM / x86 systemsLow-level debugging on embedded systems (ASM / C)Reverse engineering of embedded software and hardwareDevelopment of Proofs of Concept (Po Cs) for identified vulnerabilitiesTechnical documentation and research reporting of findingsWhat we're looking forHands-on experience in Embedded / Io T security researchStrong experience in reverse engineering on ARM and/or x86 architecturesProven low-level debugging experience on embedded systemsBasic knowledge of embedded radio technologies (LTE, Wi Fi, Lo Ra)Good command of English (written and spoken)Research-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate in an R& D environmentNice to havePython for tooling / automationStrong Linux knowledgeExperience with hardware reverse engineering tools(JTAG, Bus Pirate, Chip Whisperer, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes)ImportantFreelance collaboration via ShakersHybrid role, Rome-basedWhy this projectReal embedded security researchWork with physical devices and advanced labsCollaboration with senior security researchersHigh-impact R& D environmentInterested?
