Candidates must hold unrestricted work rights to be considered for this position.Why this role mattersA Senior Research Associate (Level B) with mixed‑methods research expertise is expected to carry out independent and/or team research in the field of trauma care, focusing on management of traumatic fractures in resource‑constrained settings. The role reports to the Professor and has no direct reports.Key AccountabilitiesEngage in individual and/or collaborative research in a manner consistent with disciplinary practice.Create scholarly impact recognised by peers in advancing disciplinary knowledge.Conduct research under limited supervision, independently or as a team member.Establish a personal research portfolio and develop independent research proposals.Contribute to competitive funding applications under guidance of senior colleagues.Participate as co‑investigator or chief investigator in grant applications, and lead qualitative data management within the 5‑country HIPCARE trial.Develop and maintain qualitative data management tools and processes for regional trial sites.Analyse qualitative data, interpret findings, and draft manuscripts collaboratively with regional investigators.Contribute to manuscript preparation for the Inormus Study.Key Skills RequiredA PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.Proven commitment to keeping up to date with disciplinary knowledge.Track record in research on hip fracture care and/or healthy ageing, especially in low‑ and middle‑income settings.Developed peer networks in orthopaedic research across the Asia‑Pacific region.Expertise in designing, conducting, and analysing qualitative research using rigorous, ethical, and participatory methods.Significant professional involvement and/or industry engagement.High‑level communication skills and ability to network effectively with diverse students and staff.Proven ability to write, edit, and publish high‑quality scientific manuscripts in peer‑reviewed journals.Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and building effective relationships.Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.Pre‑employment Checks RequiredVerifications of qualifications.UNSW Benefits and Culture17% Superannuation and leave loading.Flexible working.Additional 3 days of leave over the Christmas period.Access to lifelong learning and career development.Progressive HR practices.Application InstructionsPlease click on Apply now to apply online.
