This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of robotics and automation at an unprecedented scale, working with world‑class teams pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in robotic manipulation, locomotion, and human‑robot interaction.Amazon is seeking a talented and motivated Electromechanical Engineer to design, integrate and launch robotic End Effectors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in actuator design and integration. This candidate must have the ability to work well both independently and in a multidisciplinary team setting.Key job responsibilitiesAuthor functional requirements, design verification plans and test proceduresExecute product designs which meet the requirementsBuild and test electromechanical subsystem prototypes and integrated systemsSupport product releases to manufacturing and customer deploymentsWork efficiently to support rapid schedulesBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related fieldExperience with DFx (Design for cost, test, manufacturing)Experience communicating to senior management and customers verbally and in writingExperience working in an Agile environmentKnowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design, and advanced assemblies10+ years of experience designing and integrating actuators into robotics systemsExpert in robotic actuators, including: motors, mechanical transmissions, bearings, encoders, lubrication, environmental seals, etc.Deep understanding of mechanical and electrical efficiency, inertia, compliance, etcDeep understanding of component capacities and life estimation given highly variable operating trajectoriesHands on experience building prototypes and debugging subsystemsPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalentExperience with the project management of technical projectsKnowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis toolsExperience with actuator designs for robot end effectorsDemonstrated experience collaborating with Electrical and Controls engineersExperience launching a product at scaleProficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5Experience designing and debugging tooled (sheetmetal, cast, injection molded, etc) componentsAbility to support domestic and international travel as required by the programProficiency with Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECO’sAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market.
