The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of complex international projects related to industrial control systems (DCS, ESD, PLC, SCADA, MES). This role ensures the successful delivery of projects in terms of scope, schedule, cost, and quality, while meeting customer expectations and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage complex international projects from kick-off through to final delivery (engineering, procurement, commissioning)Plan, monitor, and control project scope, schedule, costs, risks, and qualityLead and coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, software, hardware, commissioning, supply chain)Act as the primary point of contact for international clients, stakeholders, and partnersOversee the design and implementation of control systems (DCS, ESD, PLC, SCADA)Ensure compliance with technical, contractual, and regulatory requirementsManage change orders, claims, and contractual aspects of projectsOrganize and lead project review meetings (internal and customer-facing)Monitor project KPIs and provide regular reporting to senior managementIdentify, assess, and mitigate project risksCoordinate FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test)Supervise site activities, commissioning, and system start-upRequirements: EducationBachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related fields)Project Management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) – preferredExperience8–10+ years of experience in project management within industrial automationProven track record in managing international projectsSolid technical background in control systems (DCS, ESD, PLC, SCADA)Experience with EPC or similar contract structures – preferredTechnical SkillsStrong knowledge of: DCS and ESD platforms PLC platforms SCADA / HMI systemsUnderstanding of industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)Familiarity with international standards (IEC, ISA, etc.)Expertise in project planning, cost control, and forecastingProficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar)Soft SkillsStrong leadership and team management capabilities in multicultural environmentsResults-oriented mindset with strong customer focusExcellent problem-solving and decision-making skillsAbility to manage pressure and competing prioritiesEffective communication and negotiation skillsStructured and organized working approachLanguagesItalian: FluentEnglish: Fluent (C1/C2)Additional languages: considered a plusAvailabilityWillingness to travel internationally (up to 20–30%)At Schneider, we believe that every employee is a talent who deserves equal opportunities.
