As a Principal Economist on the team, you will lead the way in shaping how Prime Video consistently makes smart, long-term decisions using online experimentation. Economists at Amazon partner closely with senior management, business stakeholders, and peer technologists to solve key business problems.Key ResponsibilitiesLead initiatives to measure the value of new feature launches via large-scale online experiments and observational approachesScale decision‑making across Prime Video by owning trade‑off frameworks when competing interests fail to alignPartner with finance, business, and product managers to bridge the gap between science decisions and business impactDevelop new internal tools to provide visibility and explainability into the model outputs so users can understand and inform future featuresBasic QualificationsPhD in economics or equivalent fieldExperience in industry, consulting, government or academic researchPreferred QualificationsExperience in analytics and applied economicsExperience in developing and executing an analytic vision to solve business‑relevant problemsExperience in building statistical models using R, Python, STATA, or a related softwareOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $170,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $294,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
