Our University has been beneficiary of several MSCA-PF in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.The Marie Sklodowska Curie (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship is one of funding scheme of the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Research & Innovation programme, dedicated to excellent research promoting international mobility, as well as interdisciplinary and intersectoral exchanges.MSCA fellowship grant provides a competitive salary plus mobility and family allowances if applicable, as well as a contribution to cover research, training and networking costs. The research projects will have 2- or 3-years duration.Selected candidates will be provided with special support for proposal writing and development.The University of Genoa will organize in May the fifth edition of theMasterclass researchers will have the opportunity to attend a 2-days online intensive training and coaching course on how to write a successful proposal.This masterclass is a pathway of support to candidates and their supervisors in preparing project proposal, includingprescreening activity of the draft proposals and the organisation of dedicated B2B meetings, by the European Research Office of UniGe, National Contact Point and other experts.The masterclass will take place on May/June2026.MSCA domain:Social Sciences and Humanities (SOC)Research Project DescriptionI am interested in receiving applications from early-career researchers who wish to work on urban inequalities, empirical legal studies, and law and economics, with particular attention to processes of socio-economic transformation in contemporary cities. The core focus concerns the role of digital platforms (especially Airbnb and similar services), touristification, the financialization of housing, and the new forms of exclusion and spatial segmentation that follow from these dynamics.The projects I am developing combine legal, economic, and urban analysis to study how rules – in the fields of tenancy law, short-term rentals, taxation, digital platforms, and urban policies – contribute to reshaping access to housing, the distribution of wealth, and inequalities between neighbourhoods and social groups. The goal is to build research that is empirically grounded yet theoretically informed, and able to engage with the international debate on cities as key sites where the risks and opportunities of globalisation are concentrated.Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with a strong background in quantitative methods and policy impact evaluation in the social sciences. Preferred qualifications include: skills in statistics and econometrics, causal inference (difference-in-differences, regression discontinuity, event studies, instrumental variables), analysis of large datasets (administrative data, platform data, open data), as well as familiarity with software such as R, Stata, or Python. Experience with spatial data and GIS tools, for analysing the territorial dimension of urban inequalities, is also highly appreciated.I am likewise interested in collaborating with researchers specialised in behavioural methods and psychological testing, including experimental and quasi-experimental designs, survey design, measurement of attitudes and preferences, as well as studies on the perception of legal rules, on compliance, and on the legitimacy of housing and urban policies. The integration of quantitative approaches, behavioural analysis, and legal theory is considered a major asset rather than a niche requirement.The working environment is strongly interdisciplinary and embedded in the international debate on urban inequality and the regulation of platforms. Interested candidates are invited to send a short motivation letter, an updated CV, and, where available, one or two written samples that best represent their scientific profile.Research GroupThe Department of Law (DIGI) at the University of Genoa is part of one of the oldest universities in Italy, founded in the 15th century. It has a long-standing tradition of excellence in legal studies and offers a full range of programmes, from the single-cycle Master’s Degree in Law to advanced doctoral training in legal studies. Located in the historic Via Balbi campus in the city centre, the Department hosts several research centres, including the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on European Union Sustainable Finance and Law (Eusfil), and is strongly engaged in international collaborations and interdisciplinary projects.ERC Starting Grant “HABITAT”HABITAT (“How European Big Cities and Legal Systems Trigger Urban Inequality”) is a European Research Council Starting Grant hosted at the University of Genoa. The project develops a new legal research framework to investigate how urban legal systems have contributed to the concentration of wealth and to rising socio-economic inequalities in major European cities. Combining law and economics, empirical legal studies, and urban studies, HABITAT measures the impact of laws and judicial decisions on housing, credit and urban development, focusing on case studies such as Berlin, London, Milan and Paris. The project integrates comparative legal analysis with advanced quantitative methods and big data to rethink the legal foundations of urban inequality.For MSCA-PF 26 call (opening foreseen on 10th April 2026), at the deadline for the submission of proposals (9th September 2026) postdoctoral candidates shall have a maximum of 8 years of postdoctoral research experience and must not have resided or carried out their main activities in Italy (for European Fellowship) or in the Third Country of the outgoing phase (for Global Fellowship) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the abovementioned deadline.#J-18808-Ljbffr
