Likely technical challenges you will face in your first year at Moneyfarm will be related to adapting the architecture of our systems with strong customer growth in mind.Over time you will become the go‑to person within the team for backend development. You will take initiative to learn/research new technologies and deliver code of great quality, keeping technical debt under control.A successful candidate in this role will be pragmatic, collaborative, value simplicity and effectiveness, and be biased for action. They will consider being wrong an opportunity for learning and will not consider any part of the software development lifecycle to be someone else’s problem.Your job title will be "Software Engineer II", but your role is to help us build a great product that our customers love, and a great environment to work in. We are looking for people who want to make an impact in whatever they can, contributing their ideas to how we can improve our product, our technology, and the way we work.Things we value are: an Agile approach to product development, using short iteration cycles, and frequent releases to customers; and a Product engineering mindset.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild an understanding of the Moneyfarm architecture as a whole, develop in alignment with it, and contribute to plans for improvement.Produce code of great quality with the right degree of test coverage.Review code constructively, and work with your colleagues to continually improve the way we work.Take a proactive approach to solving platform and delivery pipeline issues. You will work with the platform team(s) at Moneyfarm to optimise our delivery process and platform stability.Keep abreast of technological developments in the industry and their relevance to the company.Share your knowledge and apply it to improve the Moneyfarm systems and the lives of your colleagues.RequirementsAt least 3 years of commercial experience in software engineering, a BSc in Software Engineering or Computer Science or higher degree (non‑essential, but nice to have).Mandatory Java or Scala experience. Typescript is a plus.Previous exposure to fintech or wealth management industry is a must.Experience working with cloud providers, Docker orchestrators, and event streaming systems is a plus. Ideally AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes knowledge.Used to working with Git and performing code reviews.Understand microservices and different API styles and integration patterns.Familiar with CI/CD concepts and tools like Gitlab CI.Focused on testing and extraordinary attention to detail.Understands Agile methodologies and their founding principles.Experience with regulated sectors and/or financial systems.Able to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken); Italian is a nice to have.Seniority level: AssociateEmployment type: Full‑timeJob function: Other; Industries: IT Services and IT Consulting#J-18808-Ljbffr
