Overview Wildland Fire Suppression Specialist – Veneta/Florence, Oregon (Veneta, Florence area). ResponsibilitiesComplete wildland firefighting activities; locate fires using maps, Global Positioning System (GPS), and compass. Construct fire line using hand tools or power equipment by cutting, scraping, digging, and chopping or burning out to remove flammable materials. Operate many different types of fire equipment. Work collaboratively as a member of a team and perform well in high-stress, fast-paced emergency situations. Use hand tools and operate motorized equipment commonly used for wildland fire.
