Director of Renewable Projects Development – Italy
Location: Italy (flexible / remote-based)
A leading international Renewable Energy IPP is seeking an experienced Director of Renewable Projects Development to lead and deliver a substantial and growing utility-scale portfolio across Italy.
This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for progressing projects from post-investment decision through to ready-to-build (RTB) status.
You will oversee permitting, grid connection, land, offtake and stakeholder engagement, while managing a local development team and working closely with international headquarters and partners.
With a multi-GW pipeline spanning solar, wind and energy storage, this is a rare opportunity to take ownership of nationally significant projects and play a pivotal role in Italy's energy transition.
The Role
Lead the execution of a large-scale renewable energy pipeline across Italy from post-origination to RTB.
Manage and develop a team of project managers, setting clear goals, timelines and budgets
Own relationships with key stakeholders including ministries, regions, grid operators and permitting authorities.
Coordinate external partners such as co-developers, consultants, legal and engineering advisors.
Oversee project budgets, schedules, risk management and reporting.
Act as the key interface between the Italian business and international headquarters.
What We're Looking For
Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in renewable energy project development in Italy
Strong track record delivering utility-scale solar, wind and/or storage projects
Deep knowledge of Italian permitting, interconnection and land frameworks
Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments
Fluent Italian and English
Comfortable working in an international, fast-moving organisation
