In its focus area “Mitochondrial function and neuronal disease modelling” the Translational Genomics group is looking for a junior researcher to work on the available portfolio of mitochondrial targets for Parkinson’s disease. Specifically, the team is focused on genes and pathways of PD, in which disrupted mitochondrial function contributes to the pathological processes. Using appropriate neuronal models that include iPSC-derived neurons grown in 2D and 3D culture, we are assessing molecular phenotypes and testing specific targets and pathways for interventional strategies. We are offering a 1 year position for a scientist who has recently graduated (Master of Science) in Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Biology, Biotechnology or related disciplines. Researchers with a recently obtained PhD are also invited to participate.

**Tasks**:
The researcher will be involved in experimental work, data analyses and presentation, including the following tasks:

- Cell line and iPSC culture and neuronal differentiation
- Cloning techniques
- Basic molecular and cell biology experiments (e.g. ddPCR, Western blot)
- Immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy
- Functional assays (e.g. mitochondrial respiration, ATP synthesis, ROS signalling)
- Data analyses and statistics
- Preparation of graphs, presentations, and data for manuscripts

**Requirements**:

- MSc in Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Biology, Biotechnology or related disciplines (or recent PhD)
- Standard cell culture techniques
- Experience in molecular and cell biology assays
- Previous experience with hiPSCs and/or hiPSC-derived neurons will be an advantage
- Previous experience with confocal microscopy is an advantage
- Previous experience in assessment of mitochondrial function is also an advantage
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Availability to start the job as soon as possible
