**Assistant Operational Controller Internship, Italy Media**

**ABOUT THIS JOB**
**Associate Operational Controller Intern will be managing and supporting local controlling and accounting activities maintaining & monitoring local core finance processes for Nielsen Media Italy entities in coordination with the Operational Controllers.**

**She/he will be providing support in coordinating activities between Revenue Controlling, Business Finance, and outsourced services suppliers with a particular focus on the Procure-to-pay, Accounts Payable process.**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Support the local controllership function and provide financial oversight on the local business**
**Ensure adequate support on the following by leveraging both onshore and offshore resources**:
**US-GAAP accounting/ monthly financial closing, accruals, and monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliations**
**Procure-to-pay functions (invoice & payment processing, T&E, etc)**
**Intercompany transactions preparation, approval and reconciliation**
**Intrastat declaration**
**Oversight of the purchase order reports and related month end accruals**

**Support compliance with all relevant global, regional or local policies, procedures and guidelines**
**Provide support to internal and external auditors request and compliance review assignments in coordination with Operational Controllers**
**Attends weekly calls between company purchasers and the accounts payable offshore team to ensure the correct invoices process**
**Deal with tax consultants and outsourced services point of contact to support for statutory and tax accounting and audit processes**
**Assist in producing monthly closing dashboard, and quarterly and year-end reporting packs in accordance with corporate requirements for the local market**
**Support for the maintenance of local statutory accounts and for the preparation of statutory financial statement and ensure ongoing compliance with local regulation for Italian legal entities, under the coordination of the Operational Controller**

**You're a finance-oriented person with a desire to develop in this area. By your proactiveness and commitment, you can achieve balanced coordination of all core and continuous finance activities between the local environment and the Global and Regional organization. You’re curious, open to learning new things and dedicated to work.**

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics and excellent knowledge of double entry accounting method**
**Fluency in English and Italian**
**Interest in accounting rules, local statutory requirements and audits (Local GAAP, statutory financial statements, tax calculations, VAT returns)**
**IT-PC literate (Google for Work, Microsoft Office)**
**Strong communication skills, teamwork commitment, leadership traits, passionate and interested in accounting activities**
**Knowledge of US-GAAP is a plus**
**Brief experience in accounting/financial controlling or audit companies is a plus**
**Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP and HFM) is a plus**
