Background
The Retail & Banking Technology organisation is responsible for producing and consuming technology across the full retail business. Delivering through a stand-together model, Retail & Banking Technology enables ING's business strategy through robust Data & Analytics capabilities.
Reporting hierarchically to the CIO - Retail & Banking Technology, part of the Retail & BT management team, the IT Lead - Data & Analytics is a critical role in Must Win 7: Data Driven Banking. This Must-Win focuses on transforming towards data provided in an open eco-system and AI in order to enable the growth plans across Retail, Wholesale and Support functions.
**Data & Analytics brings together Analytics Engineering (AE)**: powerful, highly secured environments for performing Analytics within ING and highly skilled engineers that are embedded in cross-functional squads that work on software with analytics at the core and Data Lake: the thinking framework & foundation for ING’s data architecture of the future and, virtually, one repository for every piece of new and historical internal and external data we collect at ING.
Key Responsibilities
**The IT Lead is responsible for**:
All technical aspects supporting the bank’s global data strategy including Data Lake Foundation, Enterprise Data Lake, Shared Data Lakes, Global Reference Data, and BlaaS
**Datalab**: Exploration environment with a user-friendly UI on top of an analytics sandbox, with tooling, data, and security handled by the platform.
**Streaming Data Analytics (SDA)**: running complex event processing, machine learning and advanced analytics for processing and understanding customer contexts.
**Machine Learning Platform (MLP)**: enabling data scientists across ING to easily build, deploy, run and monitor embedded models in production, and allow engineers to integrate with these models using ING standards.
**Batch Execution Platform (BEP)**: providing a place to schedule and execute models that potentially take in massive amounts of data.
Ensure successful delivery and support of the world wide consumed data lake framework, meeting requirements and service levels
Embed the new Data & Analytics organisation, ensuring cultural transformation and business objectives are met
Bring data and analytics capabilities forward to ensure ING is equipped to deliver on its business strategy
Lead the strategic sourcing direction across the Netherlands, ING Hubs and SSI partners
Lead the development of the agile organisation. Stimulate global interaction between tribes, squads and chapters (within and outside own area).

**Requirements**:
**Proven track record and technical skills**:
Master’s degree in IT, computer science, data or comparable Master’s degree
10-15 years’ professional experience at management level and relevant tech leadership experience. Ideally in large companies and corporate consulting experience.
Subject matter expert in the area of Data.
Solid understanding of engineering, architecture, integrations, modelling, databases, data structures and related analytics and data science tooling
Strong knowledge of current technologies and emerging trends in this area
Good understanding of finance aspects and budgeting cycle
Strong working knowledge of pertinent law and regulations
Sound experience in building strategic roadmaps and proven experience in strategic projects with high impact
Expertise in driving and steering multidisciplinary teams
Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining highly collaborative, flexible, and productive cross-organisation teams
Articulate, persuasive and able to communicate constructive criticism and IT/Data related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical audiences (including board level and regulators)
Outstanding oral and written communication skills, as well as outstanding negotiation and change management skills
Can demonstrate success in establishing executive relationships and influencing executive decision-making
Ability to take responsibility, steer strategy and realisations based on facts and data; managerial courage to question and make decisions
Ability to empower teams to act autonomously, think out of the box and hold them accountable
Ability to simplify complexity and drive operational excellence
Ability to support yourself and other team members in development
Ability to have impact through inspiring and energetic leadership that leads teams through change
Excellent level of English
Experience in a financial environment is a plus
