About Villa La Massa
Sitting on the banks of the Arno river, in the heart of the Chianti wine region, Villa La Massa is located a few kilometers from Florence’s city center. Built in the 13th century as an enchanting country house for an aristocratic Florentine family, it was owned by European aristocrats until 1948, before it was transformed into a luxury hotel.
Villa La Massa welcomes today 51 rooms and three private residences, each distinct and uniquely designed; an elegant restaurant, Il Verrocchio, with its magnificent terrace overlooking the Arno river, L’Oliveto Bistrot, with a more informal atmosphere and the Medicean Bar, with its 19th-century frescos, a Spa and a curated selection of activities and experiences to embrace the quintessence of Tuscany lifestyle.
Description of the role
As a Maintenance Operations Manager will be responsible for all engineering operations, fire safety systems, energy/green initiative systems and management of other engineering work necessary to maintain the property in an efficient condition to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees.
**Responsibilities**:
Oversee the daily maintenance operations to ensure smooth execution of planned maintenance prompt response to guests’ request
Train, coach, supervise and evaluate the performance and planning the activities of maintenance and gardening team to achieve high levels of productivity, associate retention and morale
Establish an effective relationship with property contractors to ensure that maintenance and repair are executed in accordance with agreed contracts, fees or charges
Work closely with Group Project Manager to implement and execute preventive maintenance
Conduct monthly site inspections to ensure physical facilities are kept in optimal conditions
Assist with maintenance of all firefighting equipment in first class order and ensure that emergency procedures are understood and practiced by hotel staff
Ensure proper execution of work order/request system and that items are followed up on when necessary
Prepare requisitions for purchase and work orders and liaise effectively with the Purchasing Department
Proactively make recommendations to continuously improve maintenance operations
Control labor and operating expenses through effective planning, purchasing decisions, policy making, and inventory control while focusing on creative cost control, taking into account guest comfort and equipment operating life
Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools and monitor distribution of items
Job Requirements
Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience in luxury hotels in a similar role
Solid project management and organizing skills, strong work/ethic, adaptability and team leadership skills
Throughout technical knowledge of general building maintenance, hydraulics and electric
Strong written and spoken Italian and English
Legal right to work in Italy
