We have a new and exciting opportunity and are looking for a Business Controller to support our ambitious targets for growth for our Medgas Technik operations (HQ: Germany).
In this multi-disciplined role you will be responsible for the administrative, financial, IT and risk management operations of the company.
As a key member of the management team, you will determine overall business direction, challenging and driving business performance. You will lead the support and administration functions of the business at Medgas Technik. You will be responsible for accurate financial reporting of the entity.
The role is accountable for the development of financial, operational administration strategy and assuring that metrics are inherent.
The role is responsible for the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems, designed to preserve company assets and accurate financial reporting.
As Business Controller of Medgas Technik you will be responsible for accurate financial reporting of the entity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial and Administration Leadership
- Agreeing to and delivering against business growth targets alongside the General Manager.
- Responsibility for management of the Finance and IT departments.
- To provide accurate, timely and relevant financial information and plans which assist the management of the Company to meet strategic goals.
- Driving the finance team to deliver financial results and information to the business in a timely and commercially enhancing manner.
- Monitoring and keeping close watch on the company’s actual performance compared to targets, with an investigative approach to any discrepancies. Reviews detailed financial reports and makes recommendations based on data.
- Overseeing the production of statutory reports and monthly management accounts.
- Managing and delivering on planning and forecasting processes. Establishing and monitoring internal controls, cost drivers, and efficiency potential.
- To ensure that the finance and IT functions has efficient systems and procedures which satisfy the requirements of the Company and compliance with external regulations and bodies.
- To play a lead role in potential Company acquisitions.
- Offering insightful advice on cash management, variances and other trends that might improve and enhance profitability and service delivery.
- Managing all external stakeholders, including insurers and auditors.
- Monitor, support and take active part in the monthly, quarterly and yearly activities and report operational follow-up and reporting according to the Atlas Copco guidelines (The Way We Do Things).
2. Financial Duties
- Develops tax and financial strategies.
- Oversees planning and expectancy processes.
- Develops and analyses metrics that showcase the company's performance.
- Communicate with third parties that perform outsourced company functions.
- Makes reports that deal with potential risks and solutions as well as the company's overall financial state and presents those reports to the executive board.
- Analyses and makes investments to ensure the company has a robust and profitable portfolio.
- Working closely with the IT team to develop more robust and streamlined processes and automation where appropriate.
- Driving improvements to business information systems and period end deadlines.
3. Staff Development
- To develop a continuous stream of talent to ensure succession planning.
- To lead and mentor skills development of all departmental staff to address the current and future needs of the business.
- To identify and develop high potential staff.
4. Other Areas of Responsibility
- The Company insurances portfolio and cover.
- Payroll and pensions.
- Legal matters including contracts and litigation.
- Tax matters.
- Company car fleet management.
- Treasury management.
PERSONAL COMPETENCES AND EDUCATION
Education
- University degree in Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent
- Fluency in English and German is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Atlas Copco's Finance and Administration Manual is a distinct advantage
- Familiar with Group accounting principles, IFRS and local statutory rules
Experience and Skills
- Business analysis skills with experience in finance and business control.
- Good knowledge about general accounting principles, IFRS and statutory accounting rules.
- Knowledge about the Atlas Copco reporting systems.
- Leadership and management skills.
- Prior experience in a Product Company and/or Customer Center environment is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of IT procedures.
