Overview:
**Summary**:The Health Safety & Environmental Specialist will be responsible for providing expertise to maintain health, safety and environmental compliance, initiate or maintain programs to reduce losses, and provide partnership with business units to engineer solutions to identified issues. He/She will actively interact with external suppliers operating in the plant, in order to ensure regulatory compliance and safety procedures respect, analyzing and preventing any safety interference.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS system policies, programs and procedures.
- Playing a leading role in a building a Safety Culture within the team members via different tools, like: Behavior Based Safety, Near Miss analyzes, Site Safety improvement plan, ecc.
- Train and develop team members in a building Safety Awareness;
- Support Engineering by being an active part of HAZARD/HAZOP studies on a new and existing production lines/equipment;
- Support Regulatory activities with identification of hazardous substances and labels for the products, produced at site;
- Develop and conduct safety and environmental training to include new employee orientation.
- Partner with business units to design safety and environmental compliance into new projects, processes and formulations during concept, construction and implementation phases.
- Conduct internal inspections and audits and recommend corrective actions (safety & environmental).
- Provide data collection and reporting, analyze accident trends and make recommendations to improve results.
- Institute and provide support/direction to business unit safety committees and work groups.
- Lead or take an active role in activities to reduce, reuse and recycle.
- Lead incident investigations to determine probable root causes and develop corrective action plans.
- Assist with developing or updating plans such as SPCC, SPPP, emergency response, and contingency planning.
- Encourage and provide support to ergonomic needs and improvements.
- Ensure that all applicable internal and external reporting requirements are performed accurately and in a timely manner
- Conduct workplace surveys and assessments and advise responsible management of conditions requiring corrective action.
- Responsible for closely monitoring and monitoring compliance with environmental legislation.
- Contribute to the development of environmentally friendly production methods in collaboration with the engineering department.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or equivalent (Safety Prevention would be a plus);
- 3/5 years of experience in manufacturing companies;
- Good communication skills in Italian and English;
- Well organized and accurate;
- Flexible in adjusting to organizational needs;
- Takes initiative.
