**ROLE SUMMARY**:
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and inspirational Head of Physical Education for our Colonna Campus to commence employment in late August 2025.

St Louis School in Milan is a private international school which caters for 1,800 children from the ages of 2 to 18. For students aged 2 to 14 years, Foundation Stage to Year 9, our Colonna Campus offers a curriculum based on the British National Curriculum. Our students achieve exceptionally well, operating at a high level of fluency in English, knowing that approximately 80% of our students are not English first language speakers. After Year 9 our students move to the High School where they study the IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).

There are two other members in the PE department as well as a PE Teaching Assistant. We pride ourselves on the commitment offered by our friendly, supportive and professional staff. Applicants must be willing to be active, flexible participants in a hard-working team of teachers. Proven experience within an international bilingual or multilingual context would be useful along with an understanding of how to develop students whose first language is not English.

**KEY REQUIREMENTS**:

- Be fully qualified and experienced in working with children from 2 to 14 years and able to adapt quickly to a new and exciting learning environment.
- Have a flexible, communicative professional with strong empathy skills who understands the value of positive teacher/student/parent relationships, in a stimulating learning environment with students from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Have a strong commitment to purposeful learning and teaching, collaborative planning and open communication.
- Be willing to be active, resilient participants in a very hard-working team of teachers.
- THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Appropriate degree with “Qualified Teacher Status” or an equivalent qualification.
- Be an English first language user with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate an ability in engaging with students and teaching staff alike, always maintaining a high standard of work.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment and professionalism at all times.
- Have a positive and flexible approach to school life and a well-developed ability to work in a team.
- Demonstrate an ability to engage with students and the teaching staff alike, maintaining a high standard of attainment at all times.
- The ability to create a happy, challenging and effective learning environment.
- An EU passport or a valid visa that enables you to work in Italy would be an advantage.
- Have a minimum of five years’ teaching experience.
- Knowledge of the UK National Curriculum is essential.
