**Your Role**:
The Student Services Assistant is a temporary and full time, and reports to both the Assistant Director and Center Director. This position will support students through everyday duties regarding student life, Italian and Florentine culture, community integration, and will assist on activities and excursions. The Student Services Assistant will also assist in various aspects of program administration, office administration.
Standard work schedule is 10:00-18:00. Occasional overtime hours—both expected and unexpected—will be required.
**What You’ll Do**:
- Serve as first point of reference to students for questions regarding resources, general inquiries, etc.
- Engage with students in order to constantly gauge student morale, issues that they might be facing, concerns, etc., and keep Florence staff updated
- Support students throughout program in session
- Accompany students to local appointments as necessary.
- Assist and collaborate with the Program Assistant for smooth execution and completion of local student activities and excursions; may require chaperone duty.
- Assist the Housing Coordinator to field Housing maintenance issues, working towards resolution; may include visits to student apartments
- Help in execution of student arrivals, as necessary.
- Reception desk duty: receiving phone calls, visitors, mail, packages.
- Ensure CEA written materials are up-to-date and available to students, provide them with weekly or bi-monthly newsletter of goings-on in Florence and beyond
- Remind students on a weekly basis to “check in” using our Onsolve app to allow CEA CAPA staff to provide assistance during weekend travel.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings.
- Liaise with outside vendors as needed.
- Participation in emergency phone rotation.
- Laurea or Bachelor’s degree required.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Italian.
- Authorization to work in Italy.
- Prior experience and a passion for working with young adults.
- 2+ years of experience in a study abroad environment as staff.
- Solid computer abilities and comfort using a PC (Microsoft); no fear of IT troubleshooting.

- Knowledge and strong familiarity of Florence and its cultural offerings.
- Ability to address both daily work and unanticipated situations.
- Display excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and particularly to the U.S. value of customer service.
- Exhibit flexibility when scheduling will require, and in facing unforeseen challenges during a work day.
