**POSITION SCOPE**

The Buyer will source the selection and procurement functions directly associated with the organization’s needs for direct and indirect materials and services, ensuring on-time delivery of UMG material requirements. In collaboration with the Sales and Operations Planning and Logistic departments, the Buyer is to provide for the timely planning, scheduling of receipt, and inventory control of the products and services needed for United Malt’s customers.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Accountable for the timely execution of product and services sourcing activities, including the creation and execution of purchase orders, often in coordination with the Sales and Operations Planner(s).
- Develops and maintains the business relationship with suppliers to support ongoing control and changes with expedited or delayed processing needs.
- Tracks, interprets, maintains, and monitors data concerning supplier information and other data that assists in improving supplier performance.
- Partners with Quality, Accounts Payable, Warehouses, and other stakeholders to resolve purchase order-related issues.
- Accountable for goal setting for key metrics in the procurement planning process, including supplier on-time delivery. Generate and assess reports relating to procurement.
- Seek improvement opportunities for the procurement process and initiate changes, including writing workflows and work procedures.
- Facilitate and manage supplier consolidation where practical.
- Accountable for evaluating the category spend analytics and recommending opportunities for improvements in total cost, quality, and lead time. Monitor and govern spend as required.
- Support the overall execution of the United Malt Supply Chain Strategy.

**SKILLS & ABILITIES**
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel required.
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools desired.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation.
- Proficient qualitative, quantitative, and analytical skills, including manipulating data, querying, and reporting.
- Sound business acumen and agility in working independently and within a cross-functional environment.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor’s degree and experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration, or relevant experience is required.
- Association for Supply Chain Management (APICS) certification or Supply Chain Management degree desired.
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience required. Microsoft Dynamics 365 is preferred.
- Knowledge of the craft brewing and malting industries is an asset.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
- Standard working hours with the ability to be flexible, given time zone differences.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Personal Protective Equipment is required of all employees when at manufacturing and distribution sites.
- Must be comfortable working in an open office environment with cubicle seating.
- Hybrid workplace model.
