**Why the Capital Markets Graduate Programme?**
In Investment Banking, we help some of the world’s biggest, most innovative businesses, and some of the world’s, most influential organisations, to achieve their short and long-term goals. The challenges in this part of our business come in all shapes and sizes. They range from acquisitions, financings, divestitures and restructurings to leveraged buyouts, exclusive sales and takeover defence.

**The chance to make an impact**
On this programme, you’ll develop specialist expertise as a banker, there are several teams that specialise in different areas - including equity and debt origination, loans, structuring, risk management and syndication. You’ll get a unique insight into our work from colleagues across Barclays, and take on your own projects with our full support. You’ll start with intensive training focused on developing skills in a particular area.

You’ll also:

- Work on live deals and deal proposals
- Prepare new business presentations
- Learn the art of executing transactions

1-2 year targeted, fast-track programme focused on developing specialist technical expertise.

**Who we're looking for**
To be considered for this programme, you must be motivated and curious with a degree or expected degree - in any area. Language requirements: fluent in English and Italian.

Ideally, you will have an interest in business and finance, a good work ethic and be keen to learn and develop your skill set, allowing you to deliver the best products to our clients.

This role is deemed as a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.

**Working in Milan**
Capital of the Lombardy region and second Italian city after Rome, Milan is located in the heart of the Po Valley, bathed by several rivers (Olona, Seveso, Lambro) and crossed by artificial canals (navigli), we are based at Via Broletto 4, where you will be part of our international finance team, where our services encompass delivering financial advisory, capital raising, financing and risk management services to clients worldwide.

**Purpose of the role**

To participate in the day-to-day activities of the capital markets division providing insights and expertise that help senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.

**Accountabilities**
- Execution of small research projects, research to support strategic decision making, preparation of presentations and reports to communicate research findings, collaboration with senior management to implement research findings for capital markets, advising a broad range of corporate clients, to deliver holistic, structured solutions.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
- Participation in training and development programmes to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Identification of opportunities, development of business cases, management of the deployment and launch of new products and services for capital markets.
- Management of client relationships and provision of customer service support to clients and customers, under steadily decreasing supervision, responding to questions about products and services, processing of transactions.
- Management of the development and implementation of financial models and strategies that support in decision making in capital markets.
- Training and mentoring of junior colleagues.
