Assistant Accountant

Overview:
**Job Purpose**:
The main purpose is to provide active support to the Southern Europe Finance Manager in a range of areas of accountability. This will debottleneck the Finance Manager of Italy and Spain and increase capacity to focus on generating the accounts in a timely and manner, meeting very strict statutory deadlines, ensuring complete and competent accounting service.

**This position is being offered on a part time basis, working 20 hours per week, and can be done remotely (working from home).**

**Responsibilities**:
**This job contributes to organizational success by**:

- Carrying out the work to enable the base information to be completely and accurately compiled to facilitate fiscal and statutory reporting.
- Ensuring compliance with current accounting and tax regulations in the execution of the assigned activities.

As follows the main areas of focus:

- General ledger accounting, including cash books
- A/R and A/P processes
- Payroll accounting
- Inventory accounting
- Fixed Assets accounting
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual closings
- Support statutory audit
- Support preparation of fiscal and statutory reporting (VAT returns, Intrastat returns, other local mandatory returns)
- Perform administrative and other tasks as needed or requested

Qualifications:
.**Job Requirements**:

- The individual will require accounting knowledge and experience of having worked within a finance team ideally in an accounting role.
- good knowledge of Excel;
- good knowledge of English, both written and spoken
- at least basic knowledge of Spanish
- Excellent in accuracy and timeliness
