**BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT**:
The Food Security Information Network (FSIN) is a multi-partner initiative co-sponsored by FAO, IFPRI and WFP for exchanging knowledge and best practices on food security and nutrition analyses. Its Secretariat is based in the Research, Assessment and Monitoring (PDR) Division, located at WFP Headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The FSIN Secretariat uses a consultative and consensus-based approach to facilitate the production of analytical food security publications and to support the strengthening of country and regional capacities for data collection, analysis, and decision-making.

The FSIN Secretariat is seeking a junior consultant to effectively support the development and communications surrounding its publications, products, and FSIN-related activities. The incumbent will ultimately contribute to finding innovative solutions to advancing partner-based approaches to food security and nutrition data analyses.

**ACCOUNTABITLITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Communications Officer, and in collaboration with

relevant colleagues and partners, the consultant will assist the FSIN Secretariat in the following:

- Assist in the definition and delivery of the FSIN communications strategy and work plan.
- Produce communications materials to promote FSIN’s analytical work for web (blog posts, podcasts, social media) and print (written and visual).
- Develop graphic design for publications such as infographics and social media assets.
- Conduct data research and review for FSIN publications.
- Support the drafting of FSIN funding proposals and project narrative reports to donors.
- Manage the upload of content to the FSIN website and write light copy.
- Prepare and/or consolidate meeting minutes and maintain information databases.
- Provide back-stopping support to the Communication Officer during their absence.
- Perform other duties as assigned and/or requested.

Up-to-date financial monitoring and reporting.

Up-to-date information databases.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
**Education**:
Advanced university degree in social sciences, humanities or a similar discipline.

**Experience**:
1-3 years of experience with communications work including producing content for

different channels. Experience in an international organization and knowledge of

food security and nutrition are pluses.

**Knowledge and Skills**:
Desire to work in a highly collaborative environment.

Knowledge of Adobe Creative suite, Drupal and MS Office.

Knowledge of audio and video producing software tools.

Strong writing, editing, analysis, and communications skills.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

**Languages**:
Excellent spoken and written English skills; knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage.
