Atlas Language School is recruiting qualified and well-motivated Activity Manager for our junior summer programme in Lignano, Italy.

Start date from 30th June for 4 to 6 weeks.

**THE POSITION**

The junior centre in Italy delivers a course to 11 to 17 year-olds. All students and staff live on-site with full board. You will be responsible for organising and training the activity leaders as well as delivering quality activity sessions.

**PAY**

€500 per week + full board.

**SELECTION & INTERVIEWS**

Interviews for teachers at the junior centre generally take place online with a member of our operations team.

**Main Duties & Responsibilities**
- Training, centre set up/closure and staff induction_
- Attend the staff training and other centre preparation days as required.
- Take part in all Health and Safety related training.
- Prepare and carry out a comprehensive induction for Activity Leaders, providing them with training in the planning, organising and running of on-site and off-site activities.
- Assist with the shutdown of the centre at the end of the course and ensure that all necessary equipment and materials are returned to the head office.
- Health & Safety and Student Welfare_
- Assist in student supervision, taking on welfare and pastoral duties as and when required.
- With other members of the management team, ensure that students are effectively supervised during meal times and at night - you may be required to carry out such supervision duties as part of a supervision rota.
- Take responsibility for the 24-hour emergency phone when required.
- Ensure that all Atlas Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies and procedures are implemented.
- Activity & Excursion Programme_
- Deliver a high quality, varied and cost-effective activity and excursion programme
- Work with management and staff to promote the activity programme effectively to ensure high levels of student participation
- Liaise with the premises staff and external suppliers to confirm availability of facilities, coaches, tickets to attractions, etc.
- Manage the On-site Activities Coordinator (where applicable) to help establish an enjoyable and engaging programme of campus-based activities
- Liaise frequently with the Director of Studies to implement and maintain those activities and competitions that require constant cohesion between the academic and activity programmes
- Control and maintain the stock of activity resources and materials.
- Client management_
- Ensure that all staff aim to provide the highest standards of customer service
- Hold regular meetings with Group Leaders to ensure their needs and those of their students are being met and, where required, take steps to improve the activity programme
- Ensure that student and Group Leader enquiries are handled promptly and effectively
- Work with the rest of the management team to deal with student discipline issues, if they arise.
- Staff management_
- Create a positive team atmosphere and motivate staff effectively
- Take part in regular management team meetings to ensure that the activity and academic programmes run smoothly and are integrated with the language course
- Rota staff effectively, taking into account the strengths, abilities and experience of activity staff
- Ahead of an activity or excursion ensure staff are fully briefed and have read, understood and signed the appropriate risk assessments
- Inform staff of their weekly work schedule at least 5 days in advance
- Hold regular activity staff meetings
- Monitor and maintain appropriate staffing levels in consultation with the Centre Manager (and HR Manager) based on staff-student ratios
- Monitor staff performance and conduct and where necessary take action to deal with unsatisfactory conduct or performance
- Ensure staff appraisals are carried out for all activity staff.
- General_
- Ensure that the management of the centre, courses and welfare comply with Accreditation Italy guidelines and Atlas policy
- Maintain a professional working relationship with Atlas staff, clients and premises staff
- Represent Atlas positively in all communication with clients, Atlas staff, suppliers and premises staff
- Support the Centre Manager and other managers at the centre in the overall management of the centre
- Deputise for the Centre Manager as required
- Where necessary lead activities and excursions
- Assist the Centre Manager with arrival/departure transfers.

**Salary**: €500.00 per week
