IT Specialist

**Duties**: - Serves as the Information Technology (IT) System Administrator, Workstation Area Security Officer (WASO) and Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO). - Provides technical assistance for GATES documentation and ICODES personnel in their daily duties. - Plans, programs, and manages communications and computer systems in support of EUCOM, CENTCOM and NATO port operations. - Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses and resolves complex hardware and software failures. - As the IASO, ensures compliance with the network security policies and procedures - Analyzes data communications requirements and implements procedures for all on-line subsystems to include the Government Command and Control System - Serves as the SDDC Italy Detachment Security Officer. Publishes local standard operating procedures and emergency action plans for all security matters relating to the Battalion Headquarters and detachments. - Performs internal audit functions relating to risk management. **Requirements**: **Conditions of Employment**: - One year trial/probationary period may be required. - Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. - You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. - Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19. - This position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status. - This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport. - This position has a requirement to lift up to 70 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. - This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. - This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter. - This position requires the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a CompTIA Security +. GSEC, SCNP or SSCP certification within 6 months of appointment **Qualifications**: **Who May Apply: US Citizens** - Basic Requirement for IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT): - **Specialized experience**: One year of specialized experience which includes identifying, reporting, and resolving a variety of IT issues and problems; ensures compliance with the network security policies and procedures.; and advise on various communications functions including the installation, expansion, and/or consolidation of communication equipment. - This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). - The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: - (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing work independently that rarely requires editing or review by others. - (2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
