MSC Technology Italy is the first division located in the national territory, complementing existing offices in Geneva (the Group's headquarters), Warren (New Jersey, USA), and Chennai (India).
**Sustainability Social Impact&Human Rights Specialist**:
The position is in charge of supporting the Social Impact and Human Rights Manager for MSC Cargo Division to support the implementation of the sustainability plan (with a predominant focus on business and human rights and social impacts) and coordinating activities at local level to ensure compliance with national/international standards and industry best practices consistently with the MSC Cargo Division sustainability strategy. He/she supports on assuring social topics are promoted as part the MSC Cargo Division’s business agenda and progressively integrated across all areas of the business.
In particular, he/she will be involved in identifying and accounting for the diverse range of the social impacts of the MSC Cargo Division, also by contributing to the implementation of relevant projects both at HQs and local level. He/she will continuously research and evaluate evolving international standards and best practices in the social sphere, stay informed regarding emerging sustainability issues and best practices as well as social and economic value creation at local level; assist with development of policy recommendations and procedures within the social dimension.
He/she will contribute to engaging with the supply chain in regard of social requirements across the various levels of procurement (global and local level).
**Responsibilities**:
- Liaises with all relevant company departments and legal entities within the MSC Cargo Division to contribute to the progressive embedding of social topics across all business areas.
- Assist the Social Impact and Human Rights Manager with development of guiding principles and policies and social impact work.
- Provides analyses on the possible impacts regarding social topics and monitors evolving trends and assesses potential impact on business.
- Understands international best practices, sustainability standards and requirements and contributes to advance on social topics in the value chain.
- Supports to sustainability risk mapping as well as to the definition of the mitigation approach against identified risks (focus on social impacts and supply chain) under the framework of the Enterprise Risk Managements system (ERM).
- Monitors and facilitates specific activities and projects across the social dimension both at the central level and at local agencies and sites.
- Liaises with external stakeholders in contributing to the implementation of joint sustainability projects.
- Contributes to internal reporting on MSC’s performance across the social dimension and provides monitoring on distance to target.
- Assists in the development and publication of the annual Sustainability Report and collaborate across departments and businesses entities to develop relevant contents.
Qualifications&Education
- University degree (Social Sciences and equivalent), advanced degree valued.
- Minimum 2 year-experience in relevant Sustainability related fields and complex organizations.
- Very good knowledge in social issues (focus on supply chain) and human rights.
- Project management skills and ability to deliver on-time and efficiently with multiple stakeholders in a global environment.
- Experience in structuring and implementing projects in the social impact area in relation in global companies, transportation industry a plus.
- Knowledge of good practices in the social impact area and possibly relevant regulatory landscape.
- International background and excellent language skills.
