We seek to hire the Business Operation Compliance manager who will have the responsibility in supporting various regulatory compliance initiatives, with a focus on the marketplace compliance of the Alibaba.com global e-commerce platform. The key areas and requirements that we are looking for are those listed below: Reporting to EU Business Operation and Contract Management Director, you will: 1. design and implement policies and processes to comply with regulatory requirements and internal standards for Alibaba.com related marketplace operations; 2. ensure effective monitoring and testing to ensure compliance and data quality, including all necessary reporting processes to regulatory bodies and partners; 3. conduct periodic risk assessment to ensure program effectiveness and risk mitigation through continuous iteration and improvements to compliance policies, procedures and infrastructure; 4. establish regulatory engagement SOPs (on items such as reporting, inspections, and investigations) and lead engagement with the relevant regulators; 5. work closely with Alibaba.com’ Legal, Risks, Technology and other teams to structure and provide commercially viable advice on business operations, compliance processes and regulatory engagement strategy; 6. incident management (e.g., responding to regulatory investigations / inspections by authorities / assisting in PR incident responses); 7. provide training to the relevant stakeholders and management on financial compliance issues and regulatory developments; 8. develop in-house legal tools and policies, and knowhow database.
1. Minimum of 4-6 years of continuous relevant marketplace compliance experience, with solid experience in international trade services; 2. Extensive experience in interacting with regulators in European region; 3. Demonstrable track-record in compliance matters; 4. Strong systematic thinker, able to build complex program from ground up and see to implementation, and able to articulate compliance concepts clearly to non-compliance stakeholders; 5. The ideal candidate would have a mix of (i) prior in-house experience in the internet sector and (ii) private practice experience in top-tier law firms or regulatory organisation; 6. Prior experience in the fintech company, and/or with e-commerce or cross-border trade transactions strongly preferred; 7. Proficiency in English languages essential; 8. Highly-motivated and able to work independently and under pressure in a start-up environment, taking ownership of problems and comfortable holding the pen on policies, procedures and other documents relating to the regulatory compliance framework; 9. Sincere interest in technology, innovation and business. Strong commercial sense with solid foundation in compliance and/or legal training; 10. High integrity and desire to collaborate with others; 11. Open to frequent international travel.
