**POSITION SCOPE**
The Group Finance Manager is responsible for supporting the financial operations the United Malt Group and identifying, initiating, and supporting change management within the global business units in conjunction with the Corporate Director of Finance. Located in North America, the position will focus initially on support of the North America Finance team and play an instrumental role in the implementation of initiatives linked to the financial operations of the global organization. Priorities will include supporting global consolidations, treasury activities, and preparation for financial close and mid and full-year audit.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist the Corporate Finance Director to implement global processes for financial planning, strategy, and reporting
- Beginning in North America, maintain an effective and efficient accounting team that is proactive and responsive in supporting the various business functions
- Lead and develop global finance and accounting staff
- Provide technical accounting interpretations and guidance to the operations group; increase understanding of financial considerations amongst key stakeholders in the operations and sales groups for each business unit
- Provide timely financial analysis and evaluate business unit performance and provide insights into the operations of the business
- Evaluate and execute significant contracts working with corporate legal and risk advisory groups
- Revisit key processes to automate, accelerate, and improve financial reporting while maintaining effective internal controls; establish and maintain processes for delivery of key operating and accounting metrics; and integrate geographically diverse financial operations
- Drive a process improvement mindset across the accounting team, leveraging project management and change management skills to deliver results including better utilization of software and tools
- Evaluate and value potential growth and acquisition projects utilizing financial models and projections. Work closely with the FP&A team
- Work across the finance and operations team to assist in creating financial and business strategies
**SKILLS & ABILITIES**
- 10-15 years of experience across both public accounting and within a manufacturing industry
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills including robust written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent presentation skills
- Must be inquisitive, analytical, and willing to question the status quo
- Has a strong working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Thorough operational understanding of internal controls and risk management principles, effective implementation, and monitoring
- Deep understanding of foreign currency accounting and commodity risk management
- Flexibility to travel 10-15% of time for on-site visits throughout North America with possible international trips to visit other regions (Australia and UK)
**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required
- CPA is required
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics (D365) software systems strongly preferred
- Advanced skill level in MS Excel and Word is a must
- Deep experience analysing business and accounting trends, reporting findings, and presenting recommendations for improvement to management
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing and distribution sectors with multiple locations, accounts and reporting requirements
- Commercial acumen and professional approach appropriate to a corporate environment
- Proven planning and time management skills and ability to prioritize both strategic and day to day requirements
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative
- Demonstrated ability to act in a consulting capacity
