About the role
The responsibilities for this role include:
**Responsibilities**:
- Managing Major Loss claims handling enquiry; coverage determination, quantum analysis and legal liability assessment, where appropriate. Prepares and evaluates investigation strategies, which identify critical issues affecting liability, causation and damages. Appropropriately considers opportunities for third part contribution. Makes an independent evaluation of liability and damages. Makes independent evaluation of liability and damages. Analyses exposures and tradeoffs between defence costs and settlement/judgment costs as new information becomes available. Makes timely and accurate potential exposure recommendations.
- Ensuring effective vendor and litigation management on Major Loss claims within a personal allocation.
- Reporting key claims messages to VP Severity Claims Personal Insurance Broader internal / external stakeholder communication where required, as FL technical claims expert and thought leader
- Delivery of technical training to Complex colleagues as appropriate. Assist in continuous improvement across the region through support for the Quality Assurance / Regional Audit processes
- Represent AIG FL claims expertise on external technical panels and / or industry forums
- Contribute to maintenance of best practice procedures for FL Major Loss claims, consistent with global best practice.
- A technical referral for colleagues within the Complex teams.
- Contributing Major Loss management information to be used within senior stakeholder meetings and business processes.
2. Accountabilities:
- Timely, accurate and customer focused claim resolution, minimising indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense
- Effective communication of key Major Loss claims and FL portfolio messages to internal stakeholders.
- Financial control through consistent reserve and other financial transaction discipline
- Accurate and consistent policy interpretation
- knowledge of claims related actuarial impact and understanding of impact of claims activity on NLI
What we’re looking for:
- Strong specialist knowledge in Major Loss FL technical claims topics (as listed over page).
- Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation Market Leading knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements
- Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR skills
- Experience in conducting technical claims audits and effectively following up on findings.
- Catastrophe management experience
- Ability to manage claims outside local jurisdiction where appropriate, including understanding of local laws and regulation, regular interaction with claims team in originating jurisdiction and ensure regular reporting in both locations
- Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
- Strong presentation skills.
- Time management - ability to manage & prioritise workload and diary management.
- Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to deliver technical training to claims handling teams.
- Ability to influence claims stakeholders to effectively direct claims strategy
- Experienced in stakeholder management, both internal (underwriting, distribution and external (brokers, major account clients)
