The Climate Change officer works closely with the Sustainability Coordinator and Energy Management group and is responsible for coordinating efforts necessary to facilitate future development of a Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) for UNB.

**Position summary**:

- Design, plan, and execute facilitated events for stakeholder engagement.
- Engage in community outreach and arrange partnerships with stakeholders.
- Communicate with various stakeholders and coordinate engagement and support.
- Research approaches related to planning for, mitigating effects of, and adapting to climate change.
- Research using scientific journals, databases, practitioner reviews, case studies, etc.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings of the Climate Change Action Plan Committee.
- Work with Climate Change Action Plan Committee to develop and establish baselines and targets for the university.
- Assist in the development of strategies to mitigate and reduce the university's environmental footprint to meet established targets.
- Assist in the creation of an implementation plan that will lead to the creation and successful implementation of a Climate Change Action Plan.

**Requirements/Skills**:

- Degree in Environmental Management and/or area of climate change.
- Minimum 1-3 years' experience in environmental and natural sciences and climate research.
- Event management and coordination experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of the implications of climate change.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to organize and analyze information, and then identify and evaluate solutions.
- Basic office software experience, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Ability to travel. This position is bi-campus and required to work on both the Fredericton and Saint John campuses as required.

This position is covered by the terms and conditions contained in the Collective Agreement negotiated between UNB and PSAC/PTSU Local 60551.
