IT Area Lead

The IT Area Lead is responsible for the translation of the IT strategy to the agile Tribe.

The focus of this job role lies in innovation and the improvement of IT in the strategic field and standardization and improvement of IT processes.

Contributes from the perspective of IT knowledge to the strategy of the bank and is responsible for a web-scaled IT architecture within a high-performing-culture and an agile organization.

**Your key responsibilities**:

- You will be responsible for channels by which we connect with our customers on a human to human level. You will own the delivery of all technology and assets in this tribe., You are responsible for the transformation agenda applicable to the assets of the domain (including our microservices architecture called TPA, integration with twilio and migration to our Private Cloud (IPC) & Life Cycle Management of all assets in scope.
- You will be responsible for follow-up of IT Risk & non-financial risk linked with retail assets and provide an iterative roadmap to achieve the tribe goals. You are responsible of keeping the alignment with group standards ensure the required levels of service in all environments with the assets under scope.
- You will be responsible to ensure that your team is happy, motivated and is in top of their game in terms of skills and competencies.
- Specifically, as IT Area Lead you will be responsible for:
1. **Creating and ensuring the 'new' culture and one Agile way of working**

As IT Area Lead, you are responsible for effective collaboration and for one Agile Way of Working in your area and as part of the tribes. In this capacity, as IT Area Lead you are expected to:

- Ensure proper implementation of One Agile Way of Working across your respective IT Area
- Act as an ambassador for culture change and serve as a role model in terms of the new way of working: from 'an organisation talking' to 'an organisation doing'
- Stimulates interaction between and alignment across people, tribes, squads, areas and chapters and across borders
- Drives cross-cultural collaboration by creating awareness and understanding, leveraging diversity
- Creates an atmosphere in which everyone feels appreciated and heard, and where everyone enjoys their work
- Drive the performance of the Tribe co-leading with the Tribe Lead through Tribe Performance Review based on hard data and KPIs
- Intervene creatively in identifying and solving impediments that may come out through our Obeya or happiness index.

**2. Developing craftsmanship of everyone working in your IT area**

IT Area Lead has management responsibility for several Chapter Leads. You will also be responsible for ensuring overall IT maturity and for developing craftsmanship of the employees working in your IT Area. In this capacity, the IT Area lead:

- Encourages Chapter Leads to continuously develop their capabilities and competencies to remain up-to-market in their field at all times
- Oversees overall IT maturity in chapters and drives continuous craftsmanship development in his/her IT Area
- Provides high-level strategic guidance to the Chapter Leads on development of engineers in his/her IT Area
- Improves the engineering maturity in his/her domain and tests it against the expectations of the IT organisation (e.g. horizontally scalable architecture, end-to-end Agile working, an organisation of sufficiently competent engineers)
- Ensures consistency in craftsmanship development across the entire organisation and maintaining a well-balanced (engineering) workforce
- Makes planning and development agreements, coaches and assesses employees. Motivates and inspires employees.
- Ensures adequate staffing levels, which includes hiring and retaining talented staff.
- Supports employees in the specific field and creates a climate of learning and growing, and evaluates results and existing knowledge.
- Creates the required environment and enables employees to do their jobs well, both now and in the future.
- Stays on top of developments in the field and financial services and applies these in policy-making and keeping knowledge levels up to date.
- Gathers, updates and spreads knowledge about developments and challenges regarding the field in question and embeds lessons learned and best practices structurally

**3. Designing and executing the IT strategy**
- Defining and implementing the IT strategy with proper IT Landscape for their IT Area in line with the bank’s IT strategy in order to realize the purposes of the Tribes
- Identifying and adopting applicable changes in the market with regards to innovation, time to market, procedures, processes and methods used by the IT function for his / her IT Area
- Ensuring a safe and compliant bank from an IT perspective (IT custodianship)
- Guarantee that all assets in scope comply with the risk management model
