In this role you will design, develop, and maintain robust software for industrial applications, with emphasis on hardware integration and low-level communication. You will work in an Agile team to extend Delphi-based software, enabling real-time data exchange with industrial devices. You’ll add hardware support, optimize protocols like Modbus and OPC UA, and ensure scalable, well-documented code. This is a hands-on position at PMS, a global leader in particle counting technologies, offering meaningful impact in a manufacturing-focused domain.

- Develop, maintain, and optimize Delphi-based applications with robust device communication
- Extend software with new hardware support and real-time data communication using industrial protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, OPC UA)
- Implement asynchronous communication and buffer management for RS485 and TCP/IP
- Integrate new modules into existing architectures ensuring scalability and conformance to project conventions
- Collaborate with QA for automated testing and debugging (unit tests, CI/CD)
- Document code and processes for maintainability
- Participate in Agile development processes (Scrum/Kanban) and drive code quality
- Support and coach junior developers with best practices and technical guidance
- Degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Biomedical, Telecommunications, Automation) or related field
- At least 6 years of professional software development experience
- Strong object-oriented programming experience (Delphi/Object Pascal with RAD preferred, C++, C#)
- Proven experience with industrial communication protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP), TCP/IP socket programming, OPC, and serial interfaces (RS485)
- Experience with database management (SQL/NoSQL; Embarcadero and/or PostgreSQL a plus)
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks (DUnit, TestInsight or similar)
- Experience with version control and tracking tools (Git, Bitbucket, Jira)
- Knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies; CI/CD experience a plus
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, RTOS); SCADA/PLC programming a plus
- Scripting, virtualization, and cybersecurity concepts valued
