We're partnering with a leading Italian technology and digital engineering consultancy that delivers software engineering, data, AI and digital transformation solutions for major organisations across Europe.

They are currently looking for one experienced Senior Python Developer to join a long-term project supporting a major international organisation.

This is an urgent opportunity, with the client looking to review suitable profiles ASAP and move quickly with the selection process.

The Opportunity

The role requires a highly experienced technical professional with a strong background in Python development, software engineering, machine learning and scientific data.

You will be responsible for analysing requirements, developing and delivering high-quality Python solutions, applying machine learning frameworks and working with scientific data formats within a technically demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software solutions using Python.
• Perform technical analysis and translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Deliver clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
• Develop and maintain unit tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Apply machine learning frameworks to solve complex technical problems.
• Work with and process scientific data using relevant data formats.
• Analyse, manipulate and validate complex datasets.
• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and identify effective solutions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development and testing practices.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of specific professional experience programming in Python.
• 6+ years of experience in code delivery and unit testing.
• 4+ years of experience applying machine learning frameworks.
• 4+ years of experience handling scientific data formats.
• Strong software engineering and development fundamentals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a technical team and independently when required.
• Very good English and Italian, spoken and written, at B2 level or higher.

Qualifications & Professional Experience

• University degree corresponding to Level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework, typically equivalent to a Master's degree or five years of higher education.
• 15+ years of professional IT experience.
• A specialisation certificate in Deep Learning is required.

Nice to Have

• Additional experience across Machine Learning, AI or Data Science.
• Experience working with complex scientific or research datasets.
• Experience within large-scale international technology environments.
• Experience working according to Scrum/Agile methodologies.
• Additional technical programming experience in other languages or frameworks.
