The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a global ministry of the Society of Jesus, acting as an international non-governmental organisation with a mission toaccompany, serve, and advocate for the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. Founded in November 1980, JRS is now present in more than 50 countries. The organisation’s operations are currently structured across three levels: locally through project and country offices, regionally through regional offices, and globally with the support, coordination, and guidance of the International Office.

In response to a rapidly changing humanitarian context and significantly reduced funding, JRS is reshaping how tooperatein a new and less favourable environment for migration and international solidarity.

Local operations, organised in functional and sustainable Country Offices, are the core of JRS’s work, ensuring needs-based interventions and accompaniment rooted in the realities of forcibly displaced migrants and refugees.

Global support is organised through global functions that bring together the essential processes, systems andexpertisethat enable JRS tooperateeffectively as one organisation, including resource mobilisation, sound operations, and mission-driven programmatic support. These global functions will be delivered through a Virtual Global Office, in which staff working acrossdifferent locationscontribute as part of globally coordinated teams with shared priorities, clear mandates and an operational focus, regardless of where they are physically based.

The Virtual Global Office is structured around five global functions: Global Management of Operations, Global Resource Mobilisation, Global Mission-Oriented Transformation, Global Strategic Leadership, and Global Office Management Support.

Global Function Area

Theobjectiveof the Global Resource Mobilisation (GRM) area is to help ensure an effective and unified process for resource mobilisation at the global level. GRM links funding efforts with organisational priorities and financial planning, supports the setting of resource mobilisation goals across donor categories and philanthropic markets, and develops coordinated strategies, tools, and processes to generate financial income and long-term partnerships. It contributes to coherent planning, donor engagement, proposal development, prospecting, communications and digital marketing, resource allocation, and continuous improvement across JRS’s resource mobilisation work.

The Fundraising & Partnerships Officer is responsible forthe development and stewardship of major and mid-level gifts across a designated portfolio of donors. The Officer manages the full giving cycle for the designated portfolio, from prospecting and cultivation through to proposal development, stewardship, and renewal. For donors, where the primary relationship is held by another team member, the officer coordinates to ensure the stewardship of those relationships runs smoothly.

The position is expected to focus primarily on religious congregations and other faith-based donors– small,midand major levels -but the portfolio may be adapted in response to the needs of the organisation.

The role also plays a coordination and delivery function within the broader GRM team on events, campaigns, CRM, and donor support activities, and engages with the wider Jesuit and religious network on behalf of JRS.

The line manager for this position is the GRM Lead, and the technical supervisor is the Fundraising & Partnerships Sr. Officer .

Key responsibilities

Prospect Identification and Cultivation

Identifyand screen new funding prospects, assessing gift potential and alignment with JRS’s mission and funding priorities, focusing on religious congregations and Jesuit provinces.

Develop and implement tailored cultivation strategies to build and deepen relationships with mission-aligned partners over time, including in-person engagement, events, and targeted communications.

Monitor giving patterns across the portfolio, including both active donors and non-donors,identifyingopportunities for engagement or re-engagement.

Relationship Management and Support

Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of religious congregations and Jesuit province donors, managing the full giving cycle independently.
