Electrical Engineer – Rende

Due to significant commercial growth in this sector, WSP's Power & Energy Services Team is looking to strengthen its capabilities by hiring an Electrical Engineer. The position is based in one of our offices in Rende.

Your Role

The successful candidate will join our multi-discipline and cross-national team supporting the development of projects in the renewables sector.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

The role involves leading and supporting detailed electrical engineering for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and BESS. You will conduct site inspections and oversee commissioning activities to ensure compliance with design and safety standards, design and review low- and medium-voltage systems with protection and control schemes, and manage grid connection processes with TSOs/DSOs such as Terna and Enel, from feasibility studies to final approval.

Responsibilities also include preparing and evaluating technical documentation for interconnection requests and grid compliance, performing load flow, short-circuit, and other grid studies using tools like DigSILENT or ETAP, and supporting tendering and construction phases with technical expertise.

You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensure compliance with Italian electrical standards (CEI, IEC) and grid codes, provide risk assessments and value engineering recommendations, compile and verify engineering data, assist in designs, studies, reports, and deliverables, perform calculations and simulations, prepare material requisitions and specifications, coordinate work with other technical personnel, and contribute to project controls documents and status reports.

What if it was you?

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer (Bachelor's or Master's) with at least five years' experience in renewable energy projects, specializing in electrical design and commissioning. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Italian regulations, CEI standards, TERNA grid codes, and proven experience with MV/LV system design and grid connections. Proficiency in AutoCAD, DigSILENT, ETAP, or similar software is required.

The role involves producing high-quality deliverables on time and within budget, ensuring accurate calculations, and adhering to design and analysis standards. You will receive guidance from senior engineers, support junior colleagues, and may provide technical direction on design assignments. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, with fluency in Italian and English.

You should be proactive, open to feedback, and able to manage multiple commitments while demonstrating growth potential in technical and soft skills. Travel across Italy for site activities is required, along with a commitment to safe practices and continuous improvement.
