Role Overview

Sensor Reply is seeking a Data Scientist / Embedded Software Engineer to join our team.

This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing data-driven solutions across

industries, leveraging analytics, machine learning, and modern data engineering practices

to deliver actionable insights and support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities


• Design, train, and optimize machine learning models for deployment on edge devices.


• Develop data processing and inference pipelines integrated into embedded or IoT

environments.


• Contribute to research and experimentation on new Edge AI architectures and

frameworks


• Contribute to innovation in industrial IoT by developing AI systems that run in real time

across diverse platforms.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into a scalable data-

driven solution.

Qualifications and Skills


• Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.


• Solid foundation in data science, ML pipelines, and MLOps practices


• Strong proficiency in Python and at least one systems language (C/C++)


• Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX Runtime)


• Experience developing on embedded platforms (ARM Cortex, Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA

Jetson, etc.).


• Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Podman) and Linux environments

Nice-to-Have Skills


• Background in Computer Vision or Sensor Fusion


• Understanding of lightweight generative models (TinyML, model distillation)


• Comfortable with Linux systems


• Experienced in building low-latency video pipelines using both GStreamer and OpenCV.


• Familiarity in building custom embedded Linux images with Yocto/BitBake (layers,

recipes)

Soft Skills


• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams (data scientists, DevOps, product engineers)


• Strong documentation practices for processes and architectures


• Creative problem-solving with a pragmatic approach


• Curiosity and interest in AI, automation, and experimenting with new technologies


• Excellent analytical and communication skills


• Fluency in English and Italian
