BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

As part of the development and implementation of crucial initiatives to integrate and streamline all aspects of the Supply Chain Service Provision both internally and towards external partners, as well as part of the ongoing UN Reform initiatives, SCDLT is hiring a resource responsible for the definition and finalization of the business and technical solutions. The position will be based in Rome, working in strict coordination with the business experts and involved stakeholders, under the direct supervision of the Head of Service Integration Lead.

ROLE & DELIVERABLES

The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

1. Define business and technical solutions as well as functional specifications for selected projects workstreams for discussion and endorsement of the senior unit staff. Ensure that relevant business functions/units are involved in their verification and validation.

Main Deliverables:

• Functional specifications per projects workstream defined.

• Functional specifications verified and validated with senior unit staff and business owners.

2. Communicate the functional specifications for the development of systems to TEC counterpart, guaranteeing that they are correctly and timely developed as well as integrated among the different projects workstreams. Oversee the solution implementation.

Main Deliverables:

• Functional specifications communicated to TEC.

• Functional specifications developed by TEC.

3. Support the head of unit in the project and team management. Internally coordinate the project management and afferent workstreams, ensuring that the set milestones and deliverables are achieved, collaboration between team members is sustained, and guaranteeing coordination among project members and external focal points.
Main Deliverables:


• Internal coordination guaranteed.

• Delays in the achievements of the deliverables timely identified and communicated.

4. Perform any other duties requested by the Head of Support Solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

• Advanced university degree in Cooperation Studies, International Relations, Journalism, Political Sciences, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or other relevant field, or first University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Experience:

• At least 4 years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience in business analysis, business and technical solutions development, project management support, communications and information management;

• Experience with demonstrated thorough knowledge of WFP Supply Chain, UN system, service management and similar business areas.
Knowledge & Skills:

• Business acumen and strategic business viewpoint;

• Conceptual and technical expertise in business analysis, business solutions development and project management;

• Strong advance knowledge of MS Office pack;

• Excellent oral and written communication skills;

• Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team-based information sharing environment, collaborating and cooperating with others;

• Ability to work effectively in an international, multi-cultural, team-oriented environment;

• Proven ability to organize and meet tight deadlines
Languages:

• Fluency in English. Intermediate knowledge of a second official UN language is desirable.
