Position Description:

The Housing Office has an opening for a full-time support staff member. This full-time role supports the daily operations of the Syracuse University Florence Housing Office in the planning, coordination, and daily management of student housing for approximately 450 undergraduate students per semester. The role ensures that housing processes run efficiently from pre-arrival preparation through semester close, across multiple housing types (apartments, homestays, community apartments, and student residences). The position requires a strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and excellent communication skills in both English and Italian.

 Student Services and Housing Manager

Responsibilities:

Assistance with housing operations and support for students. This includes and is not limited to:

  • Communications with prospective host families and landlords regarding future student placement opportunities
  • Preparing and organizing apartment keys, labels, signature sheets, and signage for housing logistics during arrivals week
  • Preparing housing materials for students and families
  • Liaising with landlords and host families and ensure all housing contracts are properly signed and filed
  • Inspections of apartments pre-arrivals and post-departures
  • Assistance with Declaration of Presence during arrivals week
  • Tracking student submission of housing-related forms (e.g., apartment condition forms, roommate agreements)
  • Coordinating with cleaning companies and agencies to schedule cleanings, communications with students
  • Responding to and following up on student and landlord maintenance requests, visiting apartments to document issues and interventions, tracking requests and generating reports as necessary
  • Providing ongoing administrative support for housing updates, maintenance follow-up, and communication with landlords, agencies, and host families.
  • Coordination of end-of-semester inspection schedules and key returns
  • Ongoing data collection and information about apartments and host families
  • Maintaining organized digital and physical housing records
