Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented Thermal analysis engineer to help us in our mission by contributing to the development, justification and validation of the mechanisms of our vehicle.

As Thermal analysis engineer, you will be in charge of the thermal modelling and simulations to support the design definition and justification of the vehicle. You will work closely with our mechanical, CAD, avionics and mechanism engineers to optimize together the vehicle design, thermal architecture and performance. You will be part of the Mechanisms team.

Key Responsibilities
In your capacity as a Thermal analysis engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:

  • To generate the thermal model, with the right level of complexity depending on the maturity and the goals of the study,
  • To determine the thermal load cases through the entire system lifecycle,
  • To provide technical solutions on optimizing the design and the thermal management, in collaboration the system
  • To contribute to co-engineering sessions with various teams and suppliers to ensure the technical consistency and design optimization,
  • To support the test campaign: test plan and setup definition, facility selection, exploitation for simulation comparison and correlation.
  • To contribute to the validation and verification of the requirements,
  • To effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analyses, preparation, and presentation of technical data,
  • To prepare the technical documentation and participate to design reviews.

Qualifications
What we would love to see from you

  • Advanced degree (Master of Science or PhD) in aerospace engineering, heat transfer and fluid mechanics, or another related field,
  • At least 3+ years of experience in thermal analysis,
  • Good knowledge of thermal management for both active and passive thermal control systems,
  • Deep knowledge of thermal and fluid analysis,
  • A first experience with thermal balance/qualification/acceptance testing.
  • Experience with several thermal software (Thermal Desktop, ESATAN),
  • Experience with programming (Python, Matlab...),
  • Fluent in English. German, French or Italian would be a plus.
