The Developmental Library is a community-driven space for professionals and students in developmental psychology, including psychologists, therapists, psychiatrists, researchers, and students. Our mission is to promote understanding of human development across the lifespan by making psychological knowledge accessible, rigorous, and practical for research, teaching, and clinical practice. The platform offers tools derived from research, real-world human development reflections, professional-student dialogues, and carefully curated resources. We strive to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing within a passionate community.

Role Description

The Developmental Library invites professionals and scholars from the fields of psychology and developmental sciences to collaborate as Contributing Author / Editorial Contributor on the 2026 issue of the annual journal Roots and Horizons - The Developmental Journal.

The collaboration involves proposing and publishing original contributions within a structured, interdisciplinary, community-led editorial project aimed at promoting a rigorous, accessible, and humanly meaningful understanding of human development across the lifespan.

The Editorial Project

Roots and Horizons is the annual magazine of The Developmental Library, an editorial space dedicated to dialogue between:

  • Empirical research and clinical practice
  • Psychological theory and subjective experience
  • Scientific rigor and relational dimension of care

The journal is a forum for critical and applied reflection, designed for professionals, researchers, trainers, and students interested in questioning the theoretical, clinical, and ethical foundations of developmental and care psychology.

Theme of the 2026 Issue

"Therapeutic Being – Presence, Humanity and Relationship in Care"

The 2026 issue is dedicated to exploring the Self it Heals, with particular attention to the human, relational, and embodied role of the therapist. The proposed contributions can address, from different perspectives, how scientific knowledge, clinical practice, personal presence, and therapeutic relationships are intertwined in the contexts of human development and contemporary care.

Role Responsibility

Selected contributors will be invited to:

  • Propose an original contribution consistent with the theme of the number
  • Place one's work within a clear theoretical, clinical, or reflective framework
  • Adopt rigorous but accessible language, in line with the journal's editorial mission
  • Participate in an editorial project oriented towards interdisciplinary dialogue and the valorization of different perspectives
