Sompo has a unique opportunity for an IT Project & Business Relationship Manager in our IT Project Management Office team.

The IT Project & Business Relationship Manager (BRM) is responsible for managing complex IT projects and serving as the main point of contact between the business and stakeholders in Italy and other regions. The IT Project Manager / BRM ensures alignment between IT initiatives and business objectives, driving successful project outcomes while enhancing collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

What you'll be doing:

Project Management

• Perform day-to-day project management activities for all project phases to ensure deliverables are completed on time, and within budget
• Coordinate all project activities with the IT project team members and business owners / stakeholders.
• Track performance against objectives and develop corrective strategies when objectives are not being met.
• Create, manage, and update project charters, schedules, risk management plans, communication plans, project budgets, gate reviews, and all other project management documentation in accordance with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC)
• Work with project team members and management to secure resources and funding.
• Coordinate closely with project stakeholders to define project scopes and schedules.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, processes, and data sources.
• Work with business analysts and architects to translate these business needs into clearly documented-detailed requirements and functional specifications.
• Provide regular status updates and maintain relevant metrics to provide transparency on team performance.
• Manage vendors and hold them accountable for their delivery activities.
• Identify and coordinate cross-project dependencies.
• Communicate with executive leadership to provide project risk analysis, status, and requirements that may impact strategic direction.
• Ensure that projects comply with audit requirements.

Business Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, acting as the primary point of contact between IT and the business teams in Italy and other European countries.
  • Assist the business leaders in formalizing and managing the demand for information technology services, the prioritization of technology related projects and lesser demands. Work with business teams to prioritize demand for IT. Ensure that the solutions developed support the business units in achieving their strategic and tactical objectives
  • Ensure that the technology projects and initiatives on behalf of the business provide maximum return on investment.
  • Provide IT performance results to the business managers in the form of IT Performance status on maintenance and operations, portfolio of projects and initiatives, research and development on tools, techniques and processes affecting business performance and profitability.
• Proactively identify opportunities where IT can provide innovative solutions to business challenges and drive value creation.
• Advocate for the business within the IT organization, ensuring that stakeholder needs and expectations are met.

What you'll bring:

• 8+ years of project management experience for complex application, data integration, and AI -driven technology projects.
• Detailed knowledge of project management, software development life cycle  (SDLC)  implementation methodologies.
• Experience managing mid-sized to large IT integration and AI-enabled projects independently.
• 3+ years' experience within Commercial Insurance.
• Strong facilitation skills with the ability to effectively manage cross-functional team discussions and bridge business and IT priorities.
• Proven ability  to  build  and  maintain  strong  business  relationships,  ensuring  alignment  between  IT deliverables and business objectives.
• Strong management skills with an ability to achieve results in a matrix management environment, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Ability to translate complex business needs into actionable IT deliverables, including AI -based solutions
• Skilled in applying waterfall, agile, and hybrid project-delivery methodologies for traditional initiatives.
• Possess multi-disciplinary information technology knowledge with proven systems deployment experience, including AI technologies, data pipelines, and automation tools.
• Experience using Project and Portfolio Management tools (e.g., MS Project)
• Proficiency in managing vendor relationships
