Project Layout Engineer

Areas of Responsibility:

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented candidate to support the identification and early-stage development of renewable energy projects, with a strong focus on spatial analysis and preliminary project design.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Define and design the layouts of all development initiatives selecting the best technical solutions to be adopted in compliance with expected performance parameters, the existing constraints, site characteristics, and national grid connection constraints.

The role will be closely coordinated with the Business Development units to support strategic site selection and ensure the technical robustness of project proposals from the outset. More specifically, you will work on the following activities:

Scouting:

• Collect, analyze, and manage spatial data in a shared GIS environment to support the evaluation of potential development areas.

• Perform spatial analysis focused on:

• Renewable energy resource availability.

• Site characteristics (e.g., topography, land use, accessibility).
• Environmental and regulatory constraints.
• Existing and planned renewable projects in the vicinity.

• Existing and future electrical infrastructure (based on RTE/Enedis network development plans), with focus on potential connection points.

• Maintain and update internal GIS databases with accurate, harmonized data.

• Collaborate closely with Business Development teams to prioritize high-potential areas.
• Contribute proactively with technical suggestions aimed at improving project quality.

Layout Design:

• Develop preliminary layouts and technical configurations for renewable energy plants, considering:

• Resource assessment.

• Site constraints.
• Proximity and feasibility of grid connection.

• Optimal land usage and technical performance.

• Prepare basic layout drawings and concept designs using AutoCAD and relevant GIS tools.

Land Management:

• Conduct feasibility assessments of potential sites using internal data and inputs from other departments.
• Support land identification strategies in coordination with local teams.

Procurement:

• Assist in the preparation of technical specifications for procurement processes.
• Evaluate technical offers from contractors and suppliers involved in project layout or GIS services.

Permitting:

• Carry out, as far as it is concerned, environmental and landscape impact studies, to be developed according to the characteristics of the project and the regulations in force.
• Provide the necessary technical support to the local Technical Advisor, in the country of competence, for the preparation of environmental and landscape impact studies, in agreement with the competent OUs.
• Provide support to the competent OUs in authorization strategies and in any additions to the authorization request.
• Provide support to the competent OUs in the technical management of the authorization requirements issued by the Authorities.

Studies:

Engineering degree or similar technical field.

Work Experience:

2-3 years of experience in the sector of development of international renewable energy projects (mainly for France and Spain).

Languages:

• Italian: fluent
• English: at least B2
• French and/or Spanish: will be considered a plus

IT Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (QGIS/ARCGIS), AutoCAD and MS Office.
• Knowledge of Windpro, GLOBALMAPPER and PVCase is appreciated.
• Ability to manage large volume and diversity of data to isolate relevant information strength of proposal on technical topics

Additional Information:

• Occasional travel to project sites across European countries may be required.
