Lead Fire Engineer

Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you'll collaborate closely with architects, designers, and technical specialists to deliver fully integrated, high-impact projects across Italy and internationally. Fire Engineering plays a vital role in this mission, contributing directly to safer, more sustainable and resilient cities.

The Opportunity:

  • Act as project lead, managing services and maintaining direct client interface
  • Lead the development of fire safety calculations, from simplified methods to advanced modelling (CFD, FEM, and people movement modelling)

Liaise with clients from feasibility through to project completion to help define and deliver design ambitions We are seeking a Senior / Lead Fire Engineer to join the Italy team, based in a centrally located Milan office, working on a wide range of technically demanding and mission-critical projects.

As Lead Fire Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the design and delivery of fire strategies on complex projects, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and statutory fire sub-consultants
  • Lead the design of fire protection systems in coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Review and audit fire safety solutions for new and existing buildings and infrastructure
  • Manage statutory fire engineering roles delivered by sub-consultants
  • Support business development activities including client meetings, bid preparation, and growth of the Fire Engineering discipline
  • Take responsibility for mentoring, managing, and developing junior colleagues
  • Actively share knowledge and best practice to ensure consistently high-quality delivery

About You:

You are a passionate and technically strong Fire Engineer with:

  • Chartered Engineer status and a proven track record on mission-critical facilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural, Mechanical, Building Engineering or similar
  • Master's degree in Fire Safety Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong experience in fire safety and/or fire protection engineering
  • High level of English and Italian (C1 or equivalent)
  • Solid knowledge of international and local fire safety standards (BS, NFPA, FM Global, Italian fire codes)

Beneficial software experience includes:

  • BIM: Revit
  • Hydraulic calculations: Namirial
  • CFD fire and smoke modelling: FDS / Ansys
  • People movement modelling: MassMotion / Legion / Conqueror
  • Structural fire modelling: SAFIR / LS-DYNA
