Senior DevOps Engineer

As our Senior DevOps Engineer (all genders), you will own the DevOps topic, have the chance to build your dream infrastructure, and will be the smartest person in the room on anything DevOps-related.

• Incident Response & Support: First responder for production issues, diagnosing and resolving problems from network to database to app errors.
• System Reliability Engineering: Monitor, maintain and improve uptime, performance, and user experience; design SLOs/SLIs for healthcare needs/customers.
• Infrastructure Troubleshooting: Debug MySQL, Apache/Nginx, AWS EC2, networking, and performance bottlenecks.
• Monitoring & Alerting: Build monitoring solutions with smart alerts that catch issues before they impact users and notify the right person.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Implement and enforce best practices for IaC, configuration management, and security using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar
• CI/CD Pipeline Management: Develop and manage GitLab CI/CD pipelines for smooth deployments with fast rollback options
• Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices across infrastructure and applications, ensuring GDPR compliance and adherence to healthcare regulations
• Capacity Planning: Proactively monitor system resources and plan for growth, ensuring our platform scales smoothly as we add more medical practices
• On-Call Operations: Join on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 reliability and fast incident response.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead post-incident reviews, fix root causes, and drive reliability enhancements.
• Architectural Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to design resilient systems and establish operational best practices from the ground up Infrastructure Management: Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, high-availability infrastructure using Docker and Ansible.

• 5+ years of production operations experience with hands-on troubleshooting in high-availability environments
• Expert-level MySQL administration: Performance tuning, replication, backup/recovery, and production debugging
• Advanced Linux system administration: Deep understanding of system internals, performance analysis, and troubleshooting
• AWS Cloud expertise: EC2, RDS, VPC, CloudWatch, Load Balancers, and networking troubleshooting
• Web server mastery: Apache/Nginx configuration, performance tuning, and debugging
• Network troubleshooting: Ability to quickly diagnose connectivity issues, DNS problems, and performance bottlenecks
• Monitoring & observability tools: Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar monitoring solutions
• Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent tools
• CI/CD platforms: Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or similar
• Scripting & automation: Strong skills in Bash, Python, or similar for operational tasks
• Container technologies: Docker and container orchestration experience

• Location: Our offices are in Italy & Germany, but this role is remote - you can be based anywhere in the European Union (we don't offer any relocation support).
• Contract: Every Alfa begins their journey with a fixed-term contract of 1 year as a full-time employee with the aim of renewing to an indefinite term.
• Equipment: laptop, headphones, keyboard, mouse, and a dedicated office monitor
• Working hours: Monday – Friday | 09:00 – 18:00 | 1-hour lunch break.
• Salary range: 70,000€ – 80,000€ (annual gross salary)
• Trial Period: Dependent on the country of your residence.
• Start Date: November/December 2025.
