 BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The United Nations World Food Programme (UN WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. The core policies and strategies that govern WFP activities are: save lives in emergency situations; improve the nutrition and quality of life of the most vulnerable people; and to help build assets and promote the self-reliance of poor people and communities, particularly through conditional food for work and training programs.

The challenges of working in difficult conditions to bring much needed food and support to our recipients while inherently rewarding, can place a great deal of pressure and stress on WFP staff. As a part of a multidisciplinary team under the Staff Wellness Division, the Staff Counselling Unit is committed to the promotion of psychological and physical health in the broadest sense so staff can continue to function at high levels in order to meet the mandate of the organization. We do this by identifying and addressing psychological risk factors in the workplace, and through the provision of counselling services to staff members and their dependents.

The FLOCK (Family Liaison Outreach Community- with or without Kids) is a network for WFP parents, spouses, partners, parents-to-be, singles and all types of families interested in joining a vibrant community to exchange information, provide mutual support, share resources and make connections. WFP FLOCK is a volunteer network providing a community of welcome and support. It is a global network, composed of local sections.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The FLOCK Program consultant will report to the Global Family Liaison Officer. We are looking for a passionate, highly organized and open-minded individual. Flexibility, multitasking and proactiveness are necessary for this role. Travel might be required.

The FLOCK Program consultant will be responsible for performing the following duties:

• Contribute towards the development of the FLOCK through the creation of local FLOCKs and other FLOCK projects, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider program policies and guidance.
• Provide project management support to specific and defined programs and projects of small to moderate size that are relatively straight forward in nature, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programs that complies with WFP standards and procedures. This includes global FLOCK activities, local FLOCKs and FLOCK support groups

• Follow data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained. Create and maintain FLOCK databases and records on programming activities.
• Provide analytical support in the planning, organization and delivery of conferences, webinars, training sessions, workshops or other events as needed.
• Manage FLOCK communication through Facebook group(s), the FLOCK mailbox, Wellbeing platform and any other tool.
• Support the development of families/FLOCK related content and functionalities on the Wellbeing App (Forums, access for spouses/partners, Family pages)
• Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on programs and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders. This includes selection of all relevant data from a wide variety of documents, including verifying accuracy, making necessary calculations, preparation background material and tables for reports, briefings and review sessions
• Provide programming support to FLOCK projects including processing and examining project budget information and data in accordance with instructions.
• Research and analyze policy and operational issues to support senior colleagues in the development of policies, programs and activities.
• Liaise with internal counterparts to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing projects.
• Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to collaborative working leading to improved wellbeing of employees and families.
• Maintain the highest ethical standards related to confidentiality, consistent with the Wellness Code of Ethics
• Other as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

Bachelor degree preferably in the social, health or related field.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of experience

Knowledge & Skills:

Must be an excellent team player and value working with a multidisciplinary and culturally diverse team. Very good working knowledge of technology tools such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) Ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries and establish and maintain effective working relationships in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Open-mindedness, creativity

Languages:

Proficiency in writing and verbal communication in English, with intermediate knowledge of another UN language advantageous.
