The I.R.C.C.S. Foundation - "Carlo Besta" Neurological Institute, Clinical and Scientific Institute, announces a public competition based on qualifications and interview, for the award of n. 2 Senior Scholarship, as part of a project from Title

"Bio-Molecular Analysis for the Identification New Molecular Biomarkers in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, in Fronto-Temporal Spectrum Disorders, and in Peripheral Neuropathies."

This Project is parte belongs to a specific funding program (the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Research Program, ALSRP) aimed at developing a new potential therapeutic approach and simultaneously validate a response biomarker and has been judged winner and eligible for funding by the ALSRP-Therapeutic Idea Award - Biomarker Option provided by the US Department of Defense (DoD).

The Project will be performed in collaboration with the CMNlab (Cellular and Molecular Neuropharmacology Lab – PI: Marco Peviani) located at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology of the University of Pavia, and the Boston Children's Hospital in Boston (USA)

Job description:

The primary site of work will be the IRCCS Carlo Besta Institute in Milan (3th Neurology and MND Centre, in the context of a multi-Center study with our partner institutions

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

  • Proven expertise in laboratory analysis techniques, including ELISA, RT-qPCR, Western Blot, and proficiency with advanced instrumentation such as SIMOA, ELLA, and Lumipulse
  • Strong skills in immunohistochemical analysis of tissue samples, particularly skin and peripheral nerve
  • Competence in the evaluation of molecular biomarkers in biofluids (serum, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid)
  • Experience in the development and management of disease-specific biobanks
  • Strong scientific background in peripheral nervous system disorders and neuropathic pain
  • Practical knowledge of cell culture techniques, including mixed cultures derived from murine dorsal root ganglia (DRG)

All positions also require:

  • Experience with data visualization and scientific writing.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.

  • Experience in publishing scientific papers in English-language peer-reviewed journals is a plus.

  • Prepare research findings for publication in scientific journals and present results at conferences.
