Job descriptionWe are currently seeking a motivated Technical Regulatory Manager to join our Technical Regulatory team, with responsibility for Region Italy.
This position offers the opportunity to become part of an international team, work at the intersection of regulatory expertise and product innovation, contributing directly to the development of compliant and consumer-relevant food products.
Based in Parma (Italy), the successful candidate will report directly to the Technical Regulatory Associate Director.
Job purpose
The Technical Regulatory Manager will serve as a key reference point for food regulatory matters concerning products, ingredients, health, and nutrition claims. The role involves close collaboration with external regulatory experts and internal international cross-functional teams to support local and global product development projects, research initiatives, and brand communication, underlining regulatory risks and opportunities.
Furthermore, the manager will act as the content owner and approver for mandatory on-pack information. A proactive approach to monitoring regulatory developments is essential to support innovation and business growth.
- Monitor regulations on food, supported by external regulatory experts and databases, and inform organization about all emerging regulatory changes in Region Italy.
- Release regulatory opinions on products, ingredients, communication, underlining all the necessary regulatory opportunities and boundaries.
- Support the local teams, such us Marketing and RD&Q, to develop mandatory information on packs, following regulations' evolution.
- Transfer the knowledge to local colleagues (RD&Q and other departments) on food regulations by training
- Contribute to the deployment and visibility of the Global Technical Regulatory Unit mission, purpose and organization within Region Italy
- Act as content owner and approver of mandatory on–pack labelling requirements for Region Italy.
- Align with the legal team and act as approver of on -pack voluntary content for Region Italy.
- Create and update the nutrition labels for all products sold in Italy, ensuring compliance with the regulations.
- Act as the principal contact for the Global Technical Regulatory team regarding food safety regulations such as contaminants and pesticides
- Proactively propose regulatory-compliant and business-relevant claims and food information, while conducting competitive benchmarking, within cross-regional projects.
- Develop relationships with local external regulatory experts and industry associations
- Master's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Regulatory Affairs, or related field
- 5 years of overall experience in a Food Company, in the R&D or Quality area, with at least 3 years focused on technical regulatory affairs
- Proficiency in English and Italian
- Strong Excel skills and Hands-on, tech-savvy approach preferred
- Open to business trips to different locations (10 days per year)
- Proven experience in providing directions and guidance to other teams across the organization
- Ability to deal with strict deadlines and complexity, independently managing multiple projects and activities
- Attitude to work effectively in an international and cross-functional team environment
